The install with just an amp and the stealtbox should be pretty straight forward. You could use something like a JL LoC22 to get signal from the OEM Subwoofer and convert it to work with a new amp. If you are wanting to upgrade all the speakers and do a full system 5 channel amp I would recommend using something like a PAC AP4-CH41 to give you line level outputs from the Alpine system to a new amp. If you are taking it to a reputable shop they will have a recommendation for something they work with that will work. Let me know if you have any other questions and I can try and answer them.

How is the sound on it? Better than the Alpine I would assume..

I didn’t have the Alpine in my JT, but I had a loaner JL with it for about a week when my Ram was in for service and there is no comparison b/w the output of the Stealthbox vs the Alpine system.

Thank you. Does it seem sturdy when mounted? Looks like it only is mounted in 2 points.

Yes it is very sturdy. It is only mounted to the 2 seatbelt points, but it isn't going anywhere.

Where did you mount the amp? It looks like one will fit on the box itself, but from pics it seems it would hit the seat. I am thinking maybe the JL under seat amp rack..

I mounted my VX1000/5 to the middle section of the box. It fits just perfect.

That amp is cream of the crop..but the add ons are killer. 99 for the bluetooth connectivity..another 100 for the remote volume knob (as I dont want to fool with the app while driving). Still worth it though.

Have this, it’s mounted and installed. Looks great. Just waiting for some other items to arrive to actually begin the amplifier installation.

I have this JL box as well. It’s sounds surprising incredible for what it is. My other vehicles all have (2) 12’s in a more standard ported style boxes which produce a louder / deeper note so be cautious in having reasonable expectations. Dont expect that super deep follow through from the JL 10’s but it does produce a crisp, clear note throughout nearly all ranges.
A bonus I didnt expect was that even with this little JL box with 2 pancake 10’s, with doors and top off, you can still hear and feel the bass notes while cursing at 60mph. My previous jeep systems (albeit, were not down-fire boxes) sounded like shit with the top and doors off concerning the subs.
I also have the DS12 sound bar replacement that houses (4) 8’s midrange and (4) 3.5” tweeters. I upgraded the knees and dash speakers to Focal and put a few hundred extra watts to them.
The sound combined is great beyond any expectations I may have had. Crisp, clear and freaking LOUD when you want it to be.
Constantly getting compliments sitting a red lights when it sounds like a full blown concert going down in the Gladiator lol.
Hopefully this helps you in your quest.

Thanks for the input. I am already looking at 3k in parts and that doesn't include any sound bar or front speakers.. Dont think I can justify the DS10 as well.

That being said, what amps are you powering your system with?

I put a 10" kicker in a single truck box behind the passenger seat and connected it to a 300 watt alpine sub amp. Turned it up to where it hurt the ears and backed it up a scoche. Still have all my storage. Costed around $300 installed. If somebody wants it steal it... I can replace it 10 times before I care about a $1100 jeep sub box.

I have like 100's of questions for you :) J/K

How many watts are you running to your Focals? RMS for the set is 80watts and I wonder if they are under rated? I have the Focal FPX 5.1200 and could bridge the channels for some crazy loud sound.

Does the DS12 soundbar pull the imaging to the rear of the truck? I was thinking of doing the same, but I don't want the sound to suffer.

No problem man, happy to help.

Here is the layout.

Line out converter:
  • LC7i 6-channel Line-out Converter with Accubass. Make no mistake, this converter boosts the signal far greater than needed. (The accubase adjustment is a must in my opinion, makes a huge difference in dialing the bass signal to match the everything when the volume rises. You set it once and done.

Amp 1:
  • JL Audio VX1000/5i
Amp 1 is powering the following:

Front speakers:
  • Focal ES 165KX3 at 120 watts RMS (each side). Sounds like you know Focal, so you already know these absolutely jam something fierce. I did have to buy, and even still modify a pair of aftermarket knee speaker pods to stuff the 6.5’s in there behind the lower dash. Several cuss words later, they fit. Rather pricey set of speakers, but if excellence is your goal, you’ve arrived.
  • JL sub box with subs (SB-J-JTGLAD/10TW1) 600 watt / 2 ohm. The box bolts in securely with zero issues. Very clear and so much louder than I and many others would have originally considered possible. Obviously with it being only (2) 10’s, nobodys ears are bleeding from bass output. But don’t let the small size scare you, it jams.
  • Rest assured if someone wants to steal it, they will certainly have earned it if they are able to get it out. It bolts in better than most other boxes installed over the years. You do still retain the bolt storage under the seat for the door, roof, etc screws. Theft of the box can be the very least of your concerns.

Amp 2:
  • JL M800/8
Amp 2 is powering the following:

DS12 Sound bar:
  • (4) 8” DS12 supplied 2 way speakers

Amp 3:
  • JL M400/4
Amp 3 is powering the following:

DS12 Sound Bar:
  • (4) 1.75” DS12 Supplied Tweeters

Still on the shelf are (4) JL 8.8 speakers on that I keep eyeing to try and shove in the sound bar in place of the DS12 8s but holding off as that will take a bit of custom bracketry on the bar to make happen. Maybe down the road sometime but man that would be crazy clear and loud. Those 8.8’s don’t mess around. I’ve had that 800/8 on them in the past in a Polaris RZR and it’s beautifully painful when cranked.

Yes sir, the sound bar does pull the sound to the rear. It is Incredibly clear (I’m my opinion has a lot to do with the LC7i converter) but also incredibly loud too, pretty perfect actually.
If I’m just driving the kids to school or out and about throughout the day I simply adjust the balance a little more to the front speakers, which are also super clear and loud.
If I’m trying to act a fool, just adjust that shit to equal balance on the receiver and the sound bar will naturally do its thing.

Damn, just typing all of this makes me want to run to the garage and figure out how to stuff those 8.8’s in the sound bar again. The sickness never ends lol
