Is that an option? My dealer is just replacing the glass once it’s approved by FCA.
My understanding is a few folks were given a top replacement option given the difficulty to replace the window glass without hard-top damage. And I requested a top replacement once it was explained to me the glass company's plan to cut the glass from the top. Dealer seemed to be okay requesting a replacement but they learned today that a body-color replacement cannot be factory ordered. It's delivered unpainted (without glass) to be painted locally then the rear glass is installed. At this point I've asked the dealer to get permission to break the window to ease a tool-less window frame removal. Not sure this is a good idea either but seems less problematic than receiving an unpainted replacement or a window guy with a battery-powered reciprocating saw trying to cut the seal between the window and fiberglass.

Perhaps I misunderstood some had a new top installed. I'll need to dig through some of the earlier threads.

Yeah, that's what you don't want. They broke my original window out. It goes back today for them to "look at" what's wrong with the defogger now. Sure wish I could get a look at the factory recommended procedure to install/replace these just for my own education.

I have the three piece hard top and noticed a water leak behind the back seat today. It’s coming in from above the sliding window. I know the freedom panels sometimes leak if not seated properly. But I have heard of anything in the back yet. Anyone having a leak back there?

Have a similar issue but my leak is coming from the surrounding back glass. Not the sliding portion. Seems to be a seal issue. On top of that I had the back sliding portion break on its own. Car had less than 12,000 miles on it. I’d like it fixed but I also don’t want the same thing happening in a few months down the line.

Have to go back again anyway, rear window defogger/defroster not working since replacement. :(
Supposed to be repaired; now I just have to wait for a cold night to verify.

I had posted earlier to you, you don’t have to wait for the cold to verify. If you have a multimeter/voltmeter you can test it out now.

Brought my JT in yesterday to fix the leak after two inspection visits and waiting on FCA. (three weeks) Picked up last night, this morning I noticed a black film around the seal. Let's just say this is a sloppy job. Brought it back to the dealer. Dealer sent me to the glass installer. Yup confirmed sloppy job.
Well, no Sh*t. I will the call dealer tomorrow and find out what's the next step. Replacement, new top, or repaint???????
Yea, not too happy.
See Pics.

I saw - but that doesn't always prove that all of the elements in all three sections are working properly unless I know what the voltage drop or current draw are supposed to be and at this point I want to have pictorial evidence.

I called my dealer yesterday to see what is going on with my replacement rear window (it’s been a week or so since they diagnosed it as ‘leaking due to a micro crack in the rear seal’). The back window is on order with no eta... Because more people are reporting issues with shoddy repairs I’m nervous on how mine will be handled!

I had my appointment today. They said they need to have the rear window resealed. A glass company is coming Thursday to do it. They need to remove the rear glass and then reseal it. I posted on a FB group about it and someone commented they had the same issue and they were told the rear window can’t be removed without breaking it. So that person is waiting for a rear window before they reseal it. My dealer didn’t say that when I asked so we will see.
Have the same issue. Back glass is being replaced next week hopefully, third time it’s been in for the back window. First glass company doesn’t work weekends, second the dropped the new glass (thankfully before they removed the original from the truck). Third was last week glass they had in in stock had a crack in it.

At this point this should be reported to the NHTSA. If everyone is having this issue, and as far as i can see almost everyone is having this issue there should be a recall on the rear glass.

There won’t be a recall since it’s not a safety issue. If they were flying out then yes it would be a recall.

I don think it has to be a safety issue to be considered a recall. But nonetheless the back sliding glass on mine exploded, blowing small fragments of glass into the cabin and causing us to swerve from shock on the highway. I'm not the only one with the broken glass slide. But regardless of a leak, breaking glass, hairline fractures etc... This is a brand new vehicle. If jeep is reading this they should take care of issues like this without hesitation. Not to compare one brand to another but we've never had issues like this with our Mercedes vehicles (we have several generations from 1989-2019) Never had issues like this with our ford or Lincoln vehicles and never with our Bmw either. The its a jeep thing doesn't fly when you're purchasing a vehicle with a sticker price of 61K. These new jeeps are an improvement to the old ones and I love my car even after these issues. But there should be responsibility upheld by Chrysler and jeep.

I had the rear glass shatter for no reason on my Acura RSX a few weeks after buying it new. It happens.
