Jeep Gladiator What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK] IMG_20210306_152423089

Have about 500 break-in mile on my truck so I gave it an oil change and spray the entire frame/underbody with woolwax. Very time consuming, but hopefully worth it in the long run.

Finally finished up my hitch skid. I was pleased to find that the support block also keep one from just pulling the pin and taking the skid. You must 1st unbolt the support block or the skid will only move like 1/4".

Silly question but it seems like these would be more likely to strike or catch than the receiver. And wouldn't they reduce the departure angle? I still want one though for some inexplicable reason...

Installed 2" Mopar suspension kit. Still stock Rubicon wheels and tires for now.

I apply/reapply Fluid Film on my undercarriages in the late fall every year, may give Woolwax a try next application time, did my JT after the third day of ownership. I always pity the person (mostly me) that has to work on anything on my undercarriages.

@mazeppa

I have run literally thousands of miles with my SR, open... On regular roads and the interstate... I never have used the straps.... I've talked to a few Bestop rep thats even say they do not use them...

IF you drive at high rates of speed in REVERSE.(over 30 mph) do use straps.. 8-)

Good to know, I'm new to this top, I was worried about highway speeds in windy conditions.

Washed all the road salt/sand off. To the person who suggested the Ryobi undercarriage pressure washer attachment, THANK YOU!

My main concern is coming off a ledge and catching the bumper. The hitch does not extend even or past the bumper. I also did not want to bang up the hitch or the material surrounding it. I kept the skid as close to the hitch as I could. It is only about a 1/2" below the flange on the bottom of the hitch and tappers up about 1/4" at the tip to help it to not get hung up. I'm sure it does not change the departure angle much at all. It also sticks past the bumper an inch or so.
