The door frame decal shows Type: Truck. In Missouri I had to get the more expensive 12,000 pound Beyond Local instead of the cheaper 6,000 pound BL plates because of the 6,250 GVWR.

It's a generic term applied to any vehicle used to provide transportation. I refer to my JT as a truck, rarely ever refer to it as a Jeep. It is my daily transport, mostly for work. It replaced a full size pickup.
Same it's a truck and I mostly say truck or Jeep sometimes. I have said vehicle as well. I think it's funny that our Tesla Model Y is considered an SUV and people actually take them camping.

Old head hardcore jeep guy's only consider a 2 door jeep wrangler a true jeep. Anything else is a Jeep made product. I mean the guys who have been doing it for 40+ years and keep a 2 door jeep in their garage. I learned that when I sold my TJ and bought my JKU.

I am telling you the gladiator is a truck.. and same class as Colorado, Tacoma, Ranger... all trucks and IDC if yer lawnmower can tow more
As is the Ridgeline and Maverick which for some stupid reason you call them cars by your definition above.

No, it does not matter to me. I am just wondering why you are so easily emasculated by it. But whatever makes you feel good.
There are two kinds of people who get offended about you calling their vehicle the wrong thing: massive lifted truck drivers who define their existence by their truck, and Jeep people.

It's definitely a truck and I have referred to mine as a diesel, Gladiator, Rubicon, truck, JT, etc. but when I am writing a post sometimes it is just easier to type car then truck, Gladiator or something else and maybe it's my warped sense of humor but if I know it bugs someone I will intentionally do it just to annoy them and I get a kick out of it so there is that also. I think there are more important things in life than to worry about how people are referring to there cars....oops sorry trucks or is it Jeeps or Gladiators or whatever you want to call it.

I call it a truck/my truck. In the state of Louisiana it is registered/plated as a truck (7 digits on the plate)

My previous two door Jeep fell under car/light SUV, which in our state is different registration and different plates (6 digits with a space in the middle). I just called that 'the Jeep' or 'the two door'.

Body on frame platform with designed for transporting passengers and cargo in offroad and inclement conditions, i.e. utility, defines it as either an SUV or Truck. An open bed forfeits potential passenger room for a payload advantage suggesting 'truck'.

One could call it a 50/50 passenger cargo vehicle (on space allotted to each function) or reasonably a 'utility vehicle'. Whereas most SUVs are closer to 80/20 - 70/30 passengers to cargo. A suburban, Wagoneer, 4Runner are in the latter camp, designed for carrying the stuff that comes with people as opposed to either or equally.

You could stuff haybales and garbage in the back of your Wagoneer, but you might sully the carpet. Better in that case to have a truck.

It's a car, a truck, and a jeep to me, all are correct.

Car is anything that has 4 wheels and carries passenger and their shit (aka an automobile), a truck is a car that has a bed seperate from the cab, and a Jeep, well it's a jeep.

Just like a sports car is a car, an SUV is a car, a station wagon is a car, and then you can use a more specific name for the type that it specifically is.
Now a semi-truck, dump truck, moving truck, etc those aren't cars they're just trucks since they are made solely for transporting goods, not people and their shit.

.... and there's everyone's favorite EASY answer!
Normally, I'd agree, but in this case, their rules have not been updated in roughly 50 years. Things have changed, they have not. Make a car all wheel drive and suddenly, truck rules apply to it. They want it both ways.
That's not being political because look at the number of administrations, and the variety of same, who have not caught this up.
But some say that's about to change.
Hey, if the shoe fits - and in this case, it's a great fit, with matching socks and tie.
When the EPA and others change the rules - then the automakers will be forced to change tactics because their precious tiny so-called SUV (even though it's really just a 4 wheel drive car) won't be a truck any more.
