A lot of the ones the high volume comes from sold orders through forum discounts and such. Travis at Tri City and Koons both do a large volume of sales based on factory orders. Just because they don't have a huge lot, they may be doing the volume that way. Other dealers turn their volume on packing the lot with cars, which is more what you're used to seeing. But you're talking about an increase in MSRP (and presumably invoice). The percentage discount off of that shouldn't be affected.
You're right, I don't know the business model of how cheap a dealer can actually get a Gladiator, but I was never under the impression that all of the forum dealers were mega-lots that can only offer a discount because they move so much volume. I mean Sprit Lake only has 100 cars on the lot right now, most of them used. Again, my understanding is that it's more of a "I can get it for X if you want it for X+Y%, neither of us is wasting anyone's time, and because it's a custom-order it doesn't affect my allotment that I would otherwise get from Jeep"
You're still talking about cars on the lot. I can wait months for a custom order and not affect how many Jeeps that dealer is allotted or their ability to wheel and deal on the lot.
So - maybe they will decrease the discounts just to make more $$ because they know they can. But I don't think jeep is forcing their hand.
