I sure wish they'd source a stronger manual. it's definitely possible. There just aren't enough of us left who want to drive them. But I have nothing to prove. But you must realize the pricing between the two trims can overlap tremendously. They are comparable trims for two different kinds of buyer. Buy one with a hard top and the other with a soft top. Or but one with the upgraded sound system, and the price will overlap. Enjoy your Max Tow, I'm sure you will, I'll enjoy mine too. If we pass each other, you'll get a wave.
Absolutely a wave, but they don’t overlap that much, and if you are comparing absolute base Rubicon to a macked out Max Tow, they are closer but not that close even if you could find a base Rubicon.

I agree, they should have put a stronger manual in the JT. My Rubicon 2016 JKUHR was a manual, but the auto option was a spaced out mini van 5 speed tranny back then. The automatic then was horrible. The 8 speed auto is so much better with the 3.6.

Oh, more insults, that’s rich of you.

In general that’s what I find with people like you that bring trash talk (insults) into a non Rubicon forum about the Max Tow. Actually any forum that really doesn’t pertain to you. Why do you bother? Why do you think you are the only one that takes their rig/rigs off road? Why do you think some of us in this, what is supposed to be, a humble Max Tow Thread, care what you think? My truck isn’t ugly, JT MT isn’t ugly with stock wheels, I actually like it. So of course I get it, you are allowed your opinion.

In other words just your post shows your immaturity that you try.... to claim I displayed in my response to you.

So now you want to slap a pic on here, in a Max Tow Thread, so that we will be impressed with your “awesome” display of your off-road prowess. One pic of maybe your 4 door JKUR with its hood up on a trailer being towed by your JT. If you were here to tell us how well your Rubicon with Max Tow package towed your rig, that would be relevant to this thread. I’ll tell you what your pic shows me.

1- So that’s your off road rig? ? being towed by your gladiator to the trail head... a JKUR with a miss matched size spare, stock wheels that you say are ugly on the JT?, with oversized tires that when aired down properly will pop a bead in a heartbeat.
2- your choice of tow rig is laughable, although I love the gladiator, you are overloaded, probably by quite a bit.
3- I am sure there were a lot of diesel tow pigs at this trailhead when you showed up. Please know we laugh our asses off when a hot mess like yours rolls up to the trail head or off-road park.
4- Most of the time, not all of the time, I see people like you out on a trail with a trashed stock Rubicon locker, thrashed u-joint, broken steering box mount, (you probably still have the stock drive-shafts on your JKUR) or broken axle blocking the trail. I’ll walk up and the first thing I’ll notice is, you have no tools or spare parts to fix your cobbled together rig. Of course I’ll jump in with other experienced off-roaders, to fix your rig and get your crap out of our way.

This is just a humble Max Tow appreciation thread and you are welcome, but please
Leave the trash talk for your... off road Crawler threads etc. (please go post pics of your “off-road rig” and tow pig over on Pirate) ?

Since we are obviously manning up here in, of all places the Max Tow Love Thread... ?

Here is my “HS” response... as if you know me or anyone on here. Laughable honestly, how sophomoric of you.

For me, I loved to drive my wicked off-road rigs to the trail on the interstate, wheel like hell, break stuff sometimes, fix it my self or with my wheeling buddies with the parts I brought and the tools I needed and then drive back home at the end of the day. No trailer necessary and no tow pig. On occasion I would tow my off-road rigs with the proper tow pig. A diesel 1 Ton Ford Crew Cab 8’ Bed 7.3L turbo built monster and an appropriate car hauler. Towing always well within the legal tow limits. You see, experienced wheelers with well thought out rigs usually know their rigs weak points and either wheel with that in mind or are prepared for the usual axle, u-joint carnage when the right foot wins out over the brain’s loud voice telling us to back off. Funny what a crowd of people watching you climb the impossible can make that right foot do off road. ?We also are prepared for the unusual break I.e. time for some serial battery stick welding.

Since you are bowed up... let me show you some of my off toad rigs, I don’t want you to leave our humble Max Tow Love thread without a firm kick in the arse to wake you up to what you thought you knew.

No I am not in HS ?

Holy shit you talk too much and there’s no way anybody’s gonna read all your garbage. And I didn’t even read one sentence. You should be able to make your point with very few words.

I was respectful of my earlier opinion and I really don’t give a shit if it hurt your feelings. Have a good day.

ps - You are the one that started swinging insults first.

Quit being a butthurt little twat then. Take your own advice and STFU.

Did go back and catch this part. It was cute.

So no...not a mismatched spare tire. Good eye tho! All 5 are the same.
No, the wheels are not stock.
I air down to 10 PSI on 39s. Never have popped a bead.
No it isn't overloaded, its 6700lbs.
No it isn't my "choice of tow rig". I own other trucks, that was a test run to see how it towed.
I am glad you laugh at others...1s of people give a shit about your opinions "at the trailhead".
I've literally never broken down on the trail and I wheel a lot....especially when you consider I have a Pro Rock 44 set up. ;) Something those bullshit offroad pics in the mud you posted would be easy work for.

You get a lot wrong. lol @ opening with insults and calling me a first time buyer and a rookie. How cute. Before you stop to sling unprovoked insults and bad guesses about someone...don't.

i Think I posted in this thread back in March. I don’t know what happened but I like my Max Tow and think the Mojave and Rubicon generally look better than the Sport models but with certain color/ top/ fender combinations I think the Sport models can look pretty darn good. As far as capability, they all have their strengths

Unprovoked? What are you adding constructively to this thread?

I don’t read the Rubicon thread because it is irrelevant info for me. I certainly am not going to post crap about my MT or talk shit about the Rubicon on there.

Then you post a pic because you need to prove something.

Butt Hurt you say, called me a twat? I’m neither of those and I think you may be a little upset.

I said my opinion, nicely - you tried to Superman swoop in and insult me and call me names. When I proved that I was none of those things you wrote a damn book and posted all your junk and showed the forum that you can’t see for shit (regarding my Jeep) and that you make poor assumptions. Grow up.

When I proved that I was nine of those things that you wrote.
I thought it was only 6, ok so you are nine of those things then.

Now I am starting to see why they call you BLK HOLE.

No, you said nine.

Yes, your name fits you perfectly.
No, I typed "nine"...because the "i" is next to the "o" on a keyboard. You'd know this if you graduated high school.

FYI, it isn't my name, its a license plate word(s). I mean I know you're mad (for what, I can't figure out). But please don't go off the rails here.

Rubicon owner here, but one without hate for any other trim. Just want to say the Rubicon isn't 5-12k more than a Max Tow. It's like 1100 more, maybe 3000 more, if you need the automatic, when similarly equiped. Not trying to start a flame war, because each trim serves a purpose, but the price difference just isn't that great.

Rubicon - $44,240, or 46240 with automatic
Max Tow - $43,140.
The price is about the same. It's all preference. I would have gotten a max tow, but I drive stick. And I wanted the 33s and mud tires. My trim isn't "better", and neither is yours. They are just different. Also, the Rubicon does just fine off-road.
Rubicon auto tows 6000 lbs, so it's no slouch either. Given the minimal price difference between the two, I can see why someone who needs to tow to less than 6000 (or not tow at all) would choose a Rubicon. I can also understand why someone who needs that towing capacity, would choose the Max Tow package. Different strokes for different folks. Neither is terribly inexpensive, and the Rubicon is not a whole lot more than the Sport S with Max Tow added, just different.
Wow, you must have a hell of a dealer to sell a 56K+ truck that cheap! I was looking at 4K more for Rubicon than a loaded Overland. I've never seen a Rubicon with any equipment that was under 50K
So you are saying they are giving away all of the extra stuff in a Rubicon for 1 grand?

Mine might not have all of the stuff you're thinking about. 1) manual transmission = 2000 less 2) cloth seats. 3). No safety package 4) no trail cam. 5) Base 7 inch stereo. Only add-ons I have are steel bumper, LEDs, and tow package, and proximity sensors. 6) incentives were very good, even on Gladiators and Wranglers when I got mine about 5 weeks ago. I think they still are. I can't be the only one with a sub $50k Rubicon.

Here's an automatic Mojave on the same lot. it's $51,160. Both out the door, and list price, mine was considerably less.

https://www.shivelymotorsofchambers...adiator-mojave-4x4-crew-cab-1c6jjteg3ml567002

Here's an overland, $48600.

https://www.shivelymotorsofchambers...iator-overland-4x4-crew-cab-1c6hjtfg7ml569042

Rubicon Automatic: $51600

https://www.shivelymotorsofchambers...diator-rubicon-4x4-crew-cab-1c6jjtbg6ml561750

This is the closest one they have right now to mine, but manual transmission is $2k less, and incentives were great when I bought mine.

They don't have any Sport S, Willys, or manuals on the lot right now, so nothing to directly compare, but definitely no $60k (or 56k) Rubicons on the lot right now either. The most expensive Rubicon I see there is $53835. More basic Rubicons are in line with the pricing of other trims. Another dealer had a decked out manual Rubicon for a little over 60k, but that was a hard pass for me. I think it was $62900. That's the most expensive one I've seen. It was quite nice. But my wife talked some sense into me.

I also think dealers spec their vehicles according to the local markets, so there are areas of the country where dealers are having their vehicles speced out, because they know someone will pay for it. But I'm in middle of nowhere Pennsylvania, and despite the fact that I'm in the middle of nowhere, there's a Jeep dealer in every town, so they have to spec them and price them the way the local populace is willing to buy them. Also. You can order one. There's nothing stopping anyone from having the 44k base model built, and it still comes pretty well appointed. My budget was $50k, and I did pretty well to stay a couple thousand bucks under it.

There aren't a lot of Max Tows around, but the only one I saw around here when I bought mine was in $46,xxx range. Nice truck. Very nice, actually. It was black, with the body color fenders and hard top. It didn't stick around too long either. I think I'm pretty sure I saw it about a week ago at a restaurant covered in mud. I wanted to park next to it, since I still don't see a lot of JTs around here. But there was already a JL in the space. So I just admired the gloss black on black look, with dirt accents.

Not the person you’re asking, but my Rubicon was decently optioned (55K MSRP) and I was able to get it for 47K. 8.4 with Nav, steel bumpers, automatic transmission, headliners, LEDs, and a few other things I am forgetting. When I was purchasing there were numerous deals similar to this I was considering — chose mine because of color. Maybe the market is different where I’m at though.
