We’re going around in circles. And Im still not convinced you’re grasping the concept of how a bypass piston works, or why having more travel isn’t a reason to allow more static sag. I also think we prioritize different things. Ive spent a lot of time in, around, and using built trucks, too. And thats why I got the Mojave. You’re acting like a 10” bypass shock is orders of magnitude better driving than an 8+2 bypass shock. And at the end of the day, adding shock brackets to the stock shocks with the correct spring means what? ~2” shorter shock than a new one? Which means what? 1-1.5” of total travel between compression and droop?? At the most? Wow. Alert the presses.

I get that many people want to minimize the chassis and suspension benefits amd chalk them up as no big deal. You always find that with special models. The people without want to convince others that it isnt worth it...its the age old “bmw? Why? I had my civic seats covered in leather and added a turbo” or “the M isnt worth it. Just put a big turbo and lowering springs on your 330i” type argument. the end results of the whole are not the same even if one category was matched. Id wager That after considering option for option, i ended up paying less than $5k more on the Mojave than I did on the Overland or a max tow.

if all you care about is having nice shocks, then yes, get a base and put nice shocks on. Ive said that numerous times. Thats the route the OP is going, and it going to drive great, and serve him, and anyone else who does the same, very well. But don’t be the “I don’t own, and have never driven a Mojave, but I know it isn’t worth it, and a 1.5-2” longer shock makes a bigger difference than a couple years of chassis tuning and frame changes.” ‘cuz that’s a pretty ridiculous assertion.

I get that the Mojave is a great truck but it's just like the TRD Pro Tacomas... it's basically for someone who wants to use it mostly as it is and not heavily modify the suspension. If you want to do a larger lift, you can come in much lower with a better setup doing it aftermarket.
Edit: I finally caught up to the the tech exchange between @KurtP and @LostWoods. I would like to say, I am the masses who the Mojave was tuned to the best functionality across a wide spectrum. I am the guy that is not smart enough to custom select my own components. And that's cool. I love my Mojave.

If you want to make your truck unique or something don't buy the Mojave. The Mojave is a finished vehicle with the most purpose-built advanced suspension Jeep has ever built, it's a freaking kickass rig, and fun to drive on the street as well. It will crawl, trust me. But if crawling is your thing, buy something else... eh hem, cough "Rubicon" would be the easiest route for that.

If you just want better suspension, and you have the Max Tow package I would search in the forum for people with the Sport S - Max Tow, who have upgraded their suspension for off road use. They will give you the best advice on how to increase the capability of your truck, without sacrificing the Max Tow. Also, they will probably be able to help figure out the best bang for your buck based on your planned usage. The Max Tow had an incredibly dedicated following on the Forum's, because it is the best JT platform for a build.

It sounds very logical, but I also know sometimes you just have to have big ass Fox Shocks!

Full Disclosure: I have a Mojave and my Wife has a 2.0 JL Rubi... I'm trying to talk her into letting me put a JTRD take off suspension on her JL! That would be a sick swap. Them heavy ass springs, and that itty bitty sweetness engine!

I'm with you. My wife and I spend a lot of time on federal land in New Mexico where the Mojave suspension is ideal and we get the added benefit of having great on road manners.

We wanted a finished turnkey rig that's also practical for daily use. I intended to buy a Rubicon, fully aware it was overkill for our needs, but researched the Mojave and found it to be ideal. I'll eventually put 35s or 37s on it but don't have any plans to modify the suspension.

tl;dr the Sport S/Rubicon if the buyer intends to modify it and the Mojave if not.

I was the same. Looked at the Rubi but wasn’t quite what I wanted. Live my Mojave!

Edit: LOL "Live" my Mojave is synonymous with "Love my Mojave"
