My A/C is turning on all by itself at stop lights??!!
Also happens if I shift into N or P while idling. ( As I'm standing still, not rolling )
Last few days its crazy HOT outside near 100 degrease.
I'm actually driving around town with the windows down. For more airflow I'm running just the blower fan. No A/C or Auto button pressed. Only using the dash vent mode.
At stoplights I feel cold air blowing in and the auxiliary fan kicks in to cope with the heat as the A/C compressor is engaged.
I drive off and it shuts off, blows outside air.
What the heck???!

I shouldn't even have to say this, but it's time to take it in for service. Obviously it's not normal. Mine functions just fine, and thankfully so, given I'm in Texas.

Ugg, I was hoping maybe some silly new vehicle feature for "lack of airflow" they would out of an abundance of caution ( and nonsense ) they would cycle the A/C during high heat conditions.

Mine does the same thing. It's probably some sort of humidity sensor or something.

It is so strange, annoying and not efficient. And I see your JT is gas, mine's diesel.
I took a look in the owners manual and couldn't find any info if its a feature.
Who else???

Mine seems to do this too. Mine is gas with dual climate control. If I turn it all the way off, it doesn't come on, but if I turn the fan on, it seems to periodically turn the AC on.

Good points you made. Same conditions I should have mentioned.
Happens with just the blower fan running. Also I always have the auto start stop cancelled if that matters too.
Mine is a Rubicon diesel, and has the dual system too.
It's DEFETELELY turning on the A/C compressor when I shift to P ( engine running ) and just double confirmed this once parked at my job this morning.

Mine is manual, so no park, but mine is also a Rubicon, and doing the same thing you describe.

I swear it's all cars these days. You hit a button and expect it to do what it's labelled as. Ac button should turn off the ac. Traction control button should turn off the traction control. ........but no. The software programmed into the vehicle ultimately decides what's going to happen. Ticks me off. When I hit a button I expect it to do what it says.

My Supra does this as well with the ac. The only way to truly turn it off is to power off the HVAC system.

I’m right there with ya on that. I’m coming from a 2005 WK. A lot to learn. I haven’t had the JT long enough to know if it is doing the same thing as you describe but I will now be watching to see if it does.
