Heck - look at mine. It's not even sealed from the top. All of that dirt and SPOTTED as if wet - and the FLY stuck to one of the parts? Really sealed if there's BUGS stuck to the engine with the hood closed. If bugs get smacked to the engine, ya know water will find its way in.
I hadn't noticed the bug! That's crazy. Water will for sure find it's way in. So will dirt. Especially after a year. I live in a new neighborhood so construction around here stirs up loose dirt all the time. It's crazy that they are assuming it's been submerged

Yea, I was worried about being "marked" and having any other dealership have access to whatever notes this dealership has already placed on my account. But yea, it's Florida rain, I guess the dealership really does want their money. I'm sure that once alternator is fixed, they will find something else wrong and I'll have to cover that out of pocket too because of a voided warranty
I would take Jeep up on the offer to tow it elsewhere. No way would I deal those crooks.

Sheesh yea I bet that was a real pain lol.

When I (allegedly) damaged my alternator, I tried taking it to the shop immediately…I wonder if it would’ve helped to just let it sit and dry out before driving at all. Oh well, on the way to the shop, the “Service SH-AWD System” light came on, then the ABS light, then the Stability Control light, etc etc. The car eventually just shut off, but it gave me just enough limp mode to crawl over to an empty lot before dying.
I was stuck on the side of the highway for like 4 hours before it got towed to dealership and it was a hot and sunny day in Florida. When they told me they suspected moisture in the alternator, my mind was blown

Op, you might as well try. I don't know it would help at all, but have you tried @JeepCares on the forum? I'm interested in how this turns out for you. It makes me scared to run any trails, or drive in the rain.

Reminds me of this story, which I read on another site before I even got my gladiator. It's actually how I found this forum.

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...y-warranty-after-taking-it-through-mud.38337/

It almost made me scared to death to take mine off road once I got it. I don't know how, but ultimately, she ended up having it covered under warranty. I think because of all the bad press when the media ran with it, and the Bronco was getting so much hype that it was making them look bad. But if you weren't even off roading, let alone mudding, it is crap, and that dealer should be ashamed, given what these vehicles are designed for.
That is wild! I'm glad it worked out for him. My truck has never seen any mudding/off-roading anywhere near that. The day it broke down, I was literally driving it on a major roadway and it was sunny. The vehicles are designed to handle a lot more than what I've put it through so this blows my mind.

They should want to help. Can you imagine if word of this got around to the other forums, especially other brands? How does that make Jeep look? What would that do to people considering making a purchase but sitting on the fence? You buy a Jeep to do Jeep things with. Not for Highway use.

I'm going to try and have it towed elsewhere. I'm having to miss work to and from dealership and I'm not happy about it lol

I feel the same way, I'll be afraid to do anything with the truck after this. It's for real going to be a mall crawler now

Exactly what I'm thinking. If I saw this before buying the truck, I wouldn't buy it. Because I would buy a Jeep to do Jeep things. If I have to worry about driving in rain or hitting a pothole with water in it, I wouldn't want it.

Checked out the truck today to see what they were talking about. They are saying I’m at fault because it is dirty under the hood (dried dirt and water marks). It’s going to be dirty, I live in Florida and drive on dirt roads. I’ve also never cleaned under the hood in the year I’ve had the truck because I’ve never thought it was that bad.

Service rep insists that my truck was stuck and/or submerged in water. He pointed out a couple of places on the alternator where there was some moisture but unsure where it came from. I’m surprised it hasn’t evaporated in the Florida heat. Waiting on Jeep to respond so that I can get this taken care of.

Good Morning Kate!

I just sent you a private message. I called in yesterday but reached a dead end and it did not appear as if a case was started. Appreciate you taking your time to read this and reach out.

Feel free to use my photos to compare if they would help at all. Mine has only been driven through heavy rain storms and blowing rain (derecho) and the car wash - and the fly proves that dirt, water, dirty water thrown up by vehicles including your own, can end up on the engine.

Don't let that dealer void your warranty either.......... don't push it with them, they may just make such a note.

I will 100% use your photos as a comparison, thank you! Hopefully this issue will get resolved soon. I'm not trying to have them void my warrant! I'm being calm with them and haven't argued with the service rep. He has been polite as well. I just don't think my warranty should be voided. We'll see what happens
