I think I’m still in the honeymoon phase, because I love my gladiator so much. I legitimately smile when I’m outside and look at it. So ridiculous.

I would like to get rid of auto park, (I think it’s called). Never realized how often I drive with my doors partially open and my seatbelt off, (in my driveway) until now. I guess it’s because I often have to make a couple stops and hop out and grab a tree branch, dog ball, other random thing lying somewhere down our driveway, and delivery drivers don’t come all the way up our driveway to the house, so a lot of times I‘ll stop at the bottom of the driveway, grab a package, and then just barely close the door because I’ve only got 1/3 a mile to get to the house. Maybe I’m just weird or lazy, but when I’m just bopping around the property, I rarely close my doors all the way. Well, until now, when the gladiator won’t shift into gear unless I close them.

Also, I don’t like that I’m afraid to take my doors off, after hearing about people having issues with the electrical connection. I’ve unplugged them once and felt anxious like I was diffusing a time bomb when putting them back on, because I was afraid I’d bend a pin.

But this is the best vehicle I’ve ever had. Even the ride, which everyone told me would be awful and bouncy, is awesome. I love how it rides, and I’m thinking I’ll have a Jeep in the driveway for the rest of my life.

Don't be afraid. The numbers are far far from majority. Most never have a problem and even for those that do - the solution - fix the bent pin, etc.
I agree the dang connectors are rube goldberg and cheap fragile plastic and you do need to line things up and insert as far as you can manually before you engage the lever to pull it in, but most don't seem to have a problem. Forums are where people complain about troubles and don't represent even most of the total ownership.
You have visited a hospital to see how healthy people are.

And apparently if a master cylinder leaked inside, you had NO POWER brakes, either. Otherwise all it could do is leak down the front of the booster.......
OR, did it have hydraulic CLUTCH?
That's another thing I was happy to see moved - FUSE PANELS. I know why they were originally put where they were, but geesh, leaks and wet feet and the salt and snow of winter was hell on those fuse panels. I've done a ton of repairs and replacements on those things over the years. One of the things I do now is fuse panel restoration for classics. Some are pretty nasty.
Yeah it was the clutch. I had it fixed 2 times and both times it was f’d and what pushed me to do all my own auto work myself. Then it would only be my fault is f’d. The 2.8l v6 was strange. It would diesel and blow vacuum lines at high rpm it would throw the power steering belt. But it was fun and never got stuck. I drove that thing through mud hole up the the windows. Abs snow over the hood.it was the first car I ever bought myself. My dad gave me my first. It was an amc eagle 4x4 wagon.

My uncles mother had a v6 citation I think. That thing ripped!!
Mine was a 4 cyl P.O.S. It was my dad's work car, he gave it to me to drive to school and work. But hey. It was a car so I didn't complain.

That's the vehicle that I was forced to learn how to a drive stick without using the clutch on. LOL.
I'm about to install the 2nd new clutch master cylinder on my Eagle.
I put on new slave and master when I had the engine out for the swap, all new stuff (about 2011) and now I note just a little bit of wet looking at the clutch master cylinder rod inside - that's what caused firewall rot on these cars years ago - clutch master leaked, ate the paint and protection off the firewall - rust.
I had a clutch cylinder fail on my first SX4 in the middle of downtown Mason City traffic. Was at a light and suddenly I had no clutch release. I nursed it back home and that was fun through the traffic and all the stop and go, 30 minutes to home. Back then I could go to the dealer and buy a new one. Now I find them when and where I can and buy them up for spares.

Having the master cyl blow out 2 times I did too. Now I can drive just about any vehicle without using the clutch.

Sx4 was always one of my favorites. Did they have the slave in the bell housing in these?

My buddy’s dad would buy him anything other than a chevette ??
The old lady would always give me the keys to the citation to haul my lawn mower around. That car would burn rubber ?

Thankfully no - but it made for a tight, tricky fit, of the exhaust as it had to loop around the clutch slave and line from the clutch master above. So there was a shield on the line. You can change these without a ton of trouble. But the clutch master - hahahahaha - I was hoping mine lasted until I died. No such luck. You have to really strip the engine bay to get to the clutch master on these cars, including removing the whole brake booster and master cylinder, then to get to the bolts inside, it's easier to remove the whole package tray.

This is where I was doing a mock-up of the exhaust and other parts on my 4.0 conversion.
The slave cylinder bolts to the bell housing.
(I drilled the original T5 bell housing for the flywheel sensor and made a bracket for it. I sure hope THAT never goes bad. I may have to drop the engine a ways to get to it.
I built the whole drivetrain on dollies on the floor so it was pretty much ready to run when installed from under the car.

Indeed, I truly get giddy when behind the wheel of the white rabbit. Always looking for an excuse to drive. ?

I like just about everything about my truck except that it shuts off and on on its own at traffic lights unless I push a little button.
Modulate your foot pressure better, it doesn't HAVE to come on, even when still active.

One thing I noticed is the push button on the door handle, the natural action is to grab the handle. This initiated the auto unlock. The same natural action I take when I push the lock button it to grab the handle and push the button. So, I had the handle the door “unlocks” and I push the button and it locks and unlocks or never locks in the first place lol
A little quirk with an easy walk around. Jay push the button without grabbing the handle but my brain, just won’t get used to it.
