Have you ever wondered noticed people with vanity plates are proud to show their plate identification online while most non vanity plate owners cover them up for online pics?
So, after a quick search and reading about the Driver's Privacy Protection Act, I think people are just being overly cautious about privacy online.
Afterall, as the author of the below article says... " EVERYONE ALREADY SEES YOUR LICENSE PLATE NUMBER EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE DOWN THE STREET! Yes, folks, that's right: every time you drive your vehicle on a public road, every human with eyes can see your license plate number. "
