So I guess this is a noob question, but how much water intrusion can I expect a few inches above the door jamb? I would assume it to be significant, but I see a lot of nice rigs rolling right on through.

Thanks, guys.

Not a lot if the door seals are good and you don't stop.

I’ve had the bow wave up to the top of the headlights (I was in too deep). No water intrusion past the sills. The floors were dry.

If you have entry guards you might get a little more leakage.
Ones that extend into the truck. The Mopar ones don't allow water in.
You might hear sloshing of water that comes in the drain holes, but that water shouldn't enter the cabin as long as you are moving.

I can tell you for sure the Quadratec sill guards will leak. My buddy's JT pukes dust in because the guards interfere with the door gaskets.

Which Mopar ones do you have? From the pictures on the Qtec web site, it looks like the black ones will interfere with the door seals, while the stainless will not:

I have the black ones, and haven't had any trouble. I did have trouble with the quadratech ones as they left a gap with the seal, but I didn't leave them on long enough for the seal to correct itself.

Must have been a serious pucker factor going on there. A few more inches and . . .

Definitely. I had screwed up while following a vague line cutting across a pond, after a few days of rain. We go through for fun over the summer when the water is typically lower. This time I went too “left” into the pond when I should have hugged the edge. Water was up a couple inches from baseline. If I hadn’t been lifted … ?

I know this isn't what the OP asked, but it might come in handy or at least interesting to someone. It won’t for me because I dont intend to ever cross water even close to the depth where I’ll need to worry about this sort of thing.

Coincidentally, I just watched the video this morning. . .
