Okay, so apologies up front because I'm probably going to explain this poorly. I don't know a whole lot of terminology with these trucks yet lol.
I have a fairly new JT Overland, with about 2300 miles on it. I started noticing a few months ago when I first start the truck up and back out of my driveway, it's making a clunking type sound. It sounds like it's coming from the back end of the truck. When I've turned down my street or into a parking lot, it also tends to do it. Not every time though. It's hard to replicate.
It seems to only be doing it at speeds under 30. I don't hear anything strange going above that. Also no strange behavior as far as steering or anything..no check engine lights, etc. It sounds like something is just loose maybe and clunking around near the bed of the trunk. At least that's what it sounds like. Any idea? Anyone else experience this?

Are you in 4wd? Might want to have it looked at by the dealership.

Does it happen when driving straight or in a turn? If in a turn, there is a TSB to have the front ball joints torque checked. I know you say rear but sounds have a weird way of being far from where you think they come from.

It's hard to tell...it happens mainly when I back out and leave my drive way, or turning into work. So I guess I notice it more on "bumps". The more I drive and once I get above 20-30 on main roads, I don't hear it at all.
I also noticed when it rains or is really cold out, the sound is louder. My friend was sitting in the back once and he said he could hear it too.

You may be talking about the ABS system kicking in. Mine does that too.

The ABS would make a grinding/clunking sound??
Not when driving.
ABS will do a self-test, initialization at 7mph the FIRST time you hit that speed after a cold start. It will not do it again after that until you shut the truck off, and start over again, and then once you hit 7 mph it will make a sort of clunk, and then that's it.
ABS is more of a chattering and will not kick in unless there's a speed difference between some of the wheels indicating a slide or locked up brake.
I tend to go with loose spare, or ball joints up front. And the ABS sound will happen on a perfectly smooth as silk road since it's the brakes being applied, let go, applied, let go - sounds like an intense rattling sound.
The initialization of ABS happens ONE TIME each time you hit 7mph from a fresh start and then does not do it again.
ABS otherwise only works when you slide, spin a wheel or are braking and one or more wheels want to lock up - ABS modulates the brakes and it sounds like heck. Let up on the brakes and it stops.

From your initial description, this is not ABS.

As a matter of fact I believe I read that on here somewhere because I had the same question

Is it lifted? Mine was making creaking and groaning noises coming from the rear end. They had to retorque the suspension (lift). I also had some clicking in the front end. With that they had to tighten the ball joints and they replaced the cotter pins. It’s all good now.

I should mention that it was only at low speeds. Starting, stopping and turning. It was fine at higher speeds.

I have some clunking backing out of my driveway (Overland model - stock) where I break over the slope downhill, and today I noticed some horrible sounds backing up out of a flat parking spot. My truck also sounds like a creaky old back just getting in, or pushing up and down on the running boards - like it needs some oil. Only have 8000km on mine.
i feel like I need to video all these sounds and take it in to the dealer.

Yep, stock Overland too. And that's pretty much exactly what's going on with mine. Just some creaking when I reverse out of my driveway, sometimes pulling into parking spots. One time I stepped up on the side and it also creaked. And of course I tried to record it coming out of my driveway this morning and it didn't do it...but yeah experiencing the same thing.

I had the same clunking noise at low speeds and backing out of driveways. The dealership replaced my ball joints and it didn’t help. Brought it back to the dealer a second time and they couldn’t find where the noise was coming from. The service manager said he didn’t hear anything. I opened a case with Jeep Wave and after about a week at the dealership they finally found the problem. Under the skid plate they found welded nuts broken inside of the frame. They replaced them with locking nuts and problem solved. Jeep wave was on top of the dealership and called me several time to update me. So if your dealership can’t solve your problem or gives you the run around file a case with Jeep Wave. After doing this I’ve never been treated better by a dealership.
