I made it easy on myself and ordered an automatic gas Sport S because I really needed the max tow. I needed that 650 lbs more… (bonus items from the max tow gave me the tires, dana and the 4.10).

I then ordered EVERY package except the smokers one. Added slush mats, spray in bed liner, and gorilla glass. I figured I wanted to build a no regrets gladiator that gave me max tow.

Of course it set me back 58K which then resulted in my name for my soon to be made Gladiator….MAX

Selec Trac is a big one that people overlook. I would also go for the cold weather package regardless of climate.

As far as the safety and adaptive cruise packages go, one thing to consider is if you plan to lift or replace bumpers or so forth. Most of those systems lose effectiveness once the vehicle is significantly altered.
So would a significant alteration be an increase in the wheel size? If I keep the Mojave bumper etc but only went up a wheel size does that affect the system?

Just changing wheels shouldn't make a significant impact. It's just something to be mindful of. For example, if the blind spot sensors end up sitting much higher than they did stock, it may not trigger on smaller vehicles correctly, or it may pick up false positives.

I agree with all the votes for selectrac/rocktrac. I agree so much that I didn't even think of it as in option to suggest in this thread. I can't imagine having bought a JT without it.

So after looking at cars for a year.. selling my truck 6 months ago and doubling down on the options it's time to do the order. I am very torn bc I don't have a bottomless pit of money for options.

So where my mind is jumping around...

Aux Switch - Seems cheap and just handy to have. I might add lights or something. Kinda almost a no-brainer.

Premium LED - I think most folks have said this is a no-brainer.

Active Safety - I have grown to love the parking sensor on my wife's SUV. I guess this isn't critical and it has a backup.

Adaptive Cruise - I am not a big user of cruise control and I assume the adaptive is at higher speeds so sitting in Atlanta traffic wouldn't make use of it. Do the other items in this package help at slower speeds or really make sense to get?

Trail Rail - Those rails should be handy and the locking back seat would be nice. I could also see the outlet being nice. I honestly think the outlet would be the nicest thing for tailgating. How hard is adding the outlet later?

Trailer Tow - I had a trailer hitch on my truck and I don't think I used it once. We have a hitch on the SUV which is really only used for a bike rack. Is the extra cooler and alternator handy for anything? I also see that Trail Rail and Trailer Tow both have the 240 Amp Alternator... do we really get double charged or is it cheaper to buy them together?

I also hate that you have to get a cover if you do the dual top option. I was torn on top and was going to do the dual top to give me both options. Now I am leaning on doing just the hardtop bc I see so some used options listed.. and I have to assume a 3rd party will have some decent options before too long. Hardtop with the soft front seems like a great compromise.

Any insight into the package would be very helpful. I feel like jumping around sites and seeing each talked alone makes me think folks buy ALL of them.. and maybe that is why the on-lot options are so expensive.
Add in leather, cold weather group, and the Alpine/8.4” stereo and you have all of my favorite options. I wouldn’t want to be without any of them. Cold weather, alpine, and the LED lighting group are my absolute favorite options.

I don’t have the adaptive cruise control. I bought mine off the lot. I kinda wish I had it sometimes, but I can live without it. Living in an urban environment with a lot of traffic, I do use my back up sensors/rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring a lot.

I feel like most of the ones on the lot that I looked at didnt have it.. just the base auto.

8–Speed Automatic 850RE Transmission $2,000
Selec–Speed® Control
Transmission Skid–Plate

like that... I just kinda assumed it was uncommon and for more hardcore folks. Being in Ga I didn't think we would need auto 4WD.. but hell guess I have something to look into a little more.

I am going to need to balance a few things out.. can't toss everything in even with going to Tn to pick up the truck.

You don’t need it in GA. I don’t even need it in NC where it snows more. Have I had AWD before and used it? Yes. However, the Gladiator weight distribution is considerably better than most trucks so I don’t find it to be necessary at all. Mine does really well in heavy rain also.

It's not just the transfer case and 4 Auto capability -- you get CV front axle shafts as well.

My two cents since I custom ordered and spent a ton of time debating options:

AUX switches is something that is incredibly difficult to do later and it will cost you more money. Get it.

I love my LEDS. Nice plain white color. not too blue. nice and bright. def worth it and it's another thing that if you do it right aftermarket, it will cost you more money. The Mopar LED headlights and taillights are premium and nice builds.

I was AGAINST the active safety and adaptive cruise. I just don't need it. it puts a big ugly black box up on your windshield, and for what? You should be driving defensive anyway since it's a heavy truck. And the standard backup camera is what I use to back up into my driveway every single day and I can park on a dime.

Trail Rail, easy enough to install yourself. Check prices to decide on this one. I installed myself as to avoid the package that came with something else that I didn't want. I don't remember what the package was.

If you want a hard top, get it with the hard top. You can always get a soft later. But vise versa is much harder and more expensive. Plus, some companies are starting to come out with aftermarket soft tops. Bestop has a half-soft add on that replaces the front panels only which is an option.

Tonneau cover. Easy enough to install yourself. so many options out there.

Back when I ordered, you would get double charged for ordering 2 packages with same feature like the alternator. I'm not sure about pricing now. But I will say that it's worth it for the tow package if it's still under $500. The hitch receiver alone is worth a few hundred installed. then you have the wiring, the plug assembly, the alternator upgrade. well worth it even if you don't plan on towing anything. It will instantly increase the resale value. Anything to do with aftermarket wiring is a pain in the butt. You have to understand that all this wiring is done on the assembly line when the body is not even on the frame yet so that's why it is easy and cheaper for them to do it then. Like the AUX switches.

Depending on where you live, Cold Weather package was my #1 must have. I love my remote start and heated seats right now.

I also love my premium audio and large screen, but I understand that is not necessary for some.

Good luck and enjoy!

LED, 8.4 radio premium sound, aux switches are a must. I have tow, but don't tow, but is nice to have the upgraded alt and cooling. I have the safety group and like it. My ex had the adaptive cruise (advanced safety) in her vehicle and I hated using it. Guess I couldn't get used to the truck slowing down automatically all the time on the freeway. I bought the trail rails off of Amazon and installed them myself. I could not persuade myself to pay the premium Jeep was charging for the lock box under the seat that comes with the trail rail option. I also have the front camera and constantly forget that I have it when I wheel.
One thing to keep in mind, although it may not be as important to you, but what ever options you get when buying your Jeep are tied to the VIN, so it'll up the trade in value. Most dealers won't pay squat for aftermarket stuff. Most of us take those things off before we trade it in anyway.

Aux - Hell yes. Easily the most bang for your buck considering how complicated it is to do this after delivery.

LED - I like mine, but I honestly could go either way. Would I pay over a grand for them after delivery? Hell no.

Active Safety and Adaptive Cruise - Waste of money. The aide mirror light is kinda nice, but I don't rely on it. I still check my blind spot every time I change lanes. The beeping while backing up is just fucking stupid. I have a camera. I can see what's there. Stop beeping at the curb FFS...

Trail Rail - Definitely do. Having to figure out my own cargo management has been annoying, and having that outlet in the back would be awesome.

Trailer Tow - It's so cheap to add that it's silly not to.

Soft top and cover - Eh, I could go either way on this one. I am one of many who think the factory soft top looks half asked (man bun mode), and to this day, I haven't taken the hard top off entirely. The whole garage roof storage thing is more complicated due to having a bed on the vehicle, and even if you do get the soft top, you have to store the panels and window anyway. They're not great solutions either way. Tonneau covers are nice, but can also be a pain depending on what you haul (or don't). I got a cover mostly for the aerodynamic benefits, and to prevent theft. But I'll be honest, it's kind of in the way a lot if I have to haul anything big.

As far as the safety and adaptive cruise packages go, one thing to consider is if you plan to lift or replace bumpers or so forth. Most of those systems lose effectiveness once the vehicle is significantly altered.
A lift might mess with blind spot detection, but it's worth noting that there are no sensors in the bumper for the adaptive cruise... it's all handled with the camera and radar in a box at the top center of the windshield. I've only used it a little bit so far, but I can tell I'll love it once I get back to commuting regularly.

I regret not getting Selectrac/Rocktrac, but I live in snowy New England. Probably not worth it in GA, and the front to back weight distribution is better than any other truck I've driven, which reduces the need for the AWD option, anyway. You probably don't need the cold weather package either.

I like my steel bumper, but if I was doing it over, I might go with the cheap stock bumper and upgrade to an aftermarket winch bumper later. My trail cam is nice, but I would use it more if it was easier to engage. I wish there was an option to turn on the front camera every time I shift into Drive and leave it on for a number of seconds or until I hit a set speed. Honestly, I think it might have more useful potential for parallel parking than it does on the trail.

The base wheels look a lot better on the truck than they do in Jeep's online configurator, and I was VERY pleasantly surprised by the base Falken AT tires on the Rubicon. I originally planned to immediately ditch the stock wheels and tires for aftermarket wheels and BFG AT KO2s in a 35x12.50 equivalent, but these things have been nice enough to drive until I wear them out.

I went with the black flares and black hardtop. Depending on how you feel about Georgia summers, you may not get much mileage out of a soft top. I know here in New England, there aren't a lot of days when I don't want either heat or AC. With the hardtop, a headliner is a must, but there are cheap aftermarket options, so maybe I shouldn't have added that option. I did get the slush mats, but then I tore out the back seats and the rear slush mats and put them in storage, so I kind of wish I had opted for a cheaper aftermarket option.

I'll echo what others have said about the trail rail option not being as useful as E-Track or similar. If you really want that 115v outlet, you can get it in the back of the console with some combination of options. Get the aux switches. They're going to make adding lights or any other electrical gizmos a thousand times easier.

Those cameras are intended to operate at specific heights for accurate object and distance detection as well.
