Most people have moved past CB radios to GMRS and almost everyone I wheel with uses these.
There is some hate among purists on the BAOFENG radios, and you technically need a license to operate GMRS, but I literally only know of 1 person with an amateur radio license that wheels with us.

The price is only slightly more than FRS radio's, has much better range than CBs and FRS, and a lot more channels. The BAOFENG radios are easily programmed using a program called CHIRP with the following cable.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUB0ONK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I like this guy's video's

They taught me everything I needed to know and allowed me to program about 100 channels on my radios. I have config files that I can share with others, or program their radio for them in less than 5 minutes

I’ll be in the area on business travel. If I can get a Jeep rental I’ll try to meet y’all there.

I did that trail, among other black trails, on New Years day this year. Very fun.
Is that a 37" or larger tire?

This trip, as posted earlier, is going to be green trails. The majority of the group does not have lockers.

Just out of curiousity, about how long do you guys expect to be out there? I really want to tag along but we've got a thing and would have to peel off by about 1 or 2....

I dont think we have a time frame but you're more than welcome to peel off whenever you need to.

Sorry but I've never been - is that something that's realistic to do? Or, once you start down a trail you're stuck on it until you get out? I can't imagine getting halfway down Moab Rim trail and deciding it's time to go home, but then I've never been to Rausch or AOAA for that matter.

This is very doable.

The way the park is designed, there are 2 sides. One on the Office side of the road and then the North East Property is across the street. We could do a bunch of trails in the morning on the main office side and easily be able to get back to the parking lot area by 2pm, if not a little earlier
Then, anyone who needs to peel off can do so, and the rest of us can head over to the North East side for the rest of the day.

I would love to watch that, but Hell NO, on actually trying that in one.

There is a reason I have a nice light little 2 door TJ for Rock Crawling.
35s let me do stuff that requires 40s on bigger heavier vehicles and do not put a lot of stress on the D44s. My AiROCK airbag suspension does give me a serious advantage over a traditional coil setup as I have the ability to raise, lower and tilt my jeep.

I’ll be in Maryland up from Georgia during March. I’d love to come up for some wheeling. It’ll be the first time off road in my Mojave, had the wife’s Wrangler out a few times.

Still have room? We would like to join up, stock Mojave, some skids, hitch skid, and a little lift in rear. I guess green trails mostly.Had a few jeeps from Cj2A up but been years since off-roading so I’m a Newbie again…..Jack and Pat, or my brother if Pat can’t get up early for the drive ha!
Thanks for heads up Joe!
