In my opinion yes. I currently have. 33’s with 3.73 gears. The area I drive has hills, mountains and some flat stretches of roadway. With various grades the transmission is continuously shifting from 6th, 7th and 8th. With minor grades it drops from 8th to 7th. If I were to go to 35’s I’m sure I would be dropping to 5’th possibly 4th. Also, when you regear you can add a locker to the rear!

You'll want to.

Mine with 35s and 3.73 is in 6th gear too often. On flat land.

Similar question, is it because of weight or the size in general that causes the issue(s)?

IMO it is mostly size as that directly changes the rpm to speed. Weight is also a factor, as the heavier the wheel and tire the more energy it takes to start, stop and keep moving.

Makes sense!

And what's the downside of not regearing? Are you regearing to help gas mileage? To get some pep back in the throttle? Or is there potential long term damage to drivetrain? Combo of all 3?

If you wheel in places where you really need articulation, like the US West, then it helps. Use the gearing calculators to determine where you need to go. Some will go immediately for 5.13s, when 4.56 or maybe 4.88 is more than adequate to get the lower crawling gears, and maintain some semblance of gas mileage. Gas is likely to stay between 4 and 5 bucks a gallon for some time, and a 22 gallon tank refill will be costing us between 80 and 100 dollars for the foreseeable future, so the lowest gear to maintain a good gear ratio, and relatively good mileage. Maybe I'm being to pragmatic.

Manual or auto trans ?
Where do you live ? Elevation / terrain Normal highway speed ( 55?65?75+?)
Do you plan to tow or haul ? Often?

The short answer is with the gas engine a regear is the rite way to go for 35s/3.73.

Will the truck operate with 35s and 3.73s daily , yes . But I would strongly urge you to look at this as a temp solution . If you have a manual even more so . Then compound all of the above with towing or hauling bulky or heavy loads . Honestly all gas Glads should come with 4.10s at least.

Yup, all those reasons.

MPG change is not enough to warrant the cost.

Pep back in the throttle is probably the biggest advantage.

Long term damage to the drivetrain is the transmission will run hotter with bigger tires and stock gears.

Another advantage with regearing is you get all your gears back. No more cruising in 6th on the highway.

Note as alluded to above if you go too low you will not get any mpg bump. I went 5.13 with 37” tires its great for off road and towing. I keep it around 65ish on highway and mileage took a pretty good hit, sitting around 18mpg.
