Isn't it funny that so many new and old Jeep owners alike choose to upgrade from the factory wheels and tires whether it is a new unit off the showroom floor or something picked up on the used market? Wheels and tires are such subjective things on Jeeps. Every wheel size/finish and tire size/type imaginable!

That's what makes it so great to see not only these mods but hundreds of other mods as well!

In my case, I haven't even seen or driven my JTM off the dealer lot (still in ship status) yet I have new wheels and tires waiting for it in the garage already! Just another set of new take-offs that will be on the market soon!

What was (or will be) your very FIRST mod on your Jeep? Let's see them too!

Not me. I plan to upgrade the wheels and tires on my Mojave but I decided to wait until I have to buy new tires. The Mojave comes with the Falkens and 33's and they work great. So I decided to upgrade other things first since i don't have an unlimited budget. So I installed an Alu-Cab Canopy, new bumper and winch, exhaust, lift and springs. And then when I am ready for new tires I will get bigger wheels and tires.

To be fair, I should let you know the plan sitting in the garage as mentioned. 17"x8.5" Quadratec Gunmetal '41 (+12 offset) and BFG T/A's in stock size of 285/70R17 with white letters outside just for the heck of it. Not a fan of the stock all black wheels and I prefer BFG's over the stock Falken's.

What good does this do? I am very familiar with South Bend in terms of the VW tuning market where they allow for much higher output.

I ordered the optional Mojave black/polished wheels, which I think look great. If they weren't available, my first mod probably would have been new wheels.

But, my first mods on my JTM ended up being done within the first week or so of ownership:
Overland side steps
RB mud flaps
De-badged sides
Painted stock antenna black (only because the stubby I got had horrible reception)

I was really on the fence with the polished/black stock wheels as I do like those. Very nice factory wheel. However, I wanted to have a little less offset to bring the wheels/tire just slightly out a bit without the use of spacers. And as a daily driver, staying with the stock 33" tire size is the ticket for me.

I bought the Quadratec high performance 16" antenna (black). Good reviews so I thought I would give it a shot. Not sure if it will work well or not. To be considered my second mod whenever my JTM gets here!

I read jeep estimates 80% of jeeps will end up on aftermarket rims and tires. Honestly I wish they had a byowp (bring your own wheel package) option that saved me 2-3k

I bought the same AntennaX stubby that works great on my JK, but it was just horrible on my JT. I need it on my JK since I'm regularly in the woods and plowing through brush & branches. Luckily, my JT only sees dirt roads, so I only bought it for aesthetics. Painting the stock antenna black accomplished the look I was after and maintained reception. I guess now I have a spare for my JK.

the clutch on the JT is not beefy enough. Hollow. So it overheats very easily. South Bend beefed it up so it doesn't overheat anymore. Here are some before and after pics of my clutch. The owner of South Bend has a manual Rubicon so they specialize in it.

Love my stock wheels, tires were gone the next day. Wife had me order 35's why we signed the deal. 18,000 miles later, 37's went on. 15,000 miles after that, a different brand of 37's. I'm pretty pleased with it now

Tire, yes. Wheels no. I like my stock wheels.
