Slightly different subject in this MT thread: So for a guy who does occasional wheeling, stock jeep on 35s, with lots of Appalachian mountain driving, and a good bit of city too, would you recommend the stock 4.10s, 4.56s, or 4.88s? In other words I'm looking for the best all around ride. Good off road, on road, and in the city/highway. I think I have a good setup now (stock on 35s), but I feel like it could be even better. I dont plan on a lift for *vertically challenged spousal reasons, so other than more armor underneath to give me some confidence off road, and a winch, my truck will remain largely stock.
*Wife is 5'2, and can barely get in now.
Well the under armor you're going to get will make the truck lower for the wife unit.

I have the same issue with a 5'2" wife so I'm going to get the Gen 3 PowerStep from Rock-Slide that is rated for moderate off road use unlike the other power steps. It's not cheap at $2,400 but if know for a fact my wife will bitch about it being a pain in the ass to get in the Jeep if I don't have a step for her.

And as you and anyone else who's married well knows, "It's worth almost anything just to get the noise to stop." ;)

If you're a hardcore off roader they have an additional skid plate that goes over the existing unit for $650.

Others I looked at are all listed as running boards, the AMP PowerStep Extreme is an example---which specifically calls itself a running board and the warranty has this in it, "not responsible for on-road and off-road hazards".

here's the new video . check it out!
Well, I jumped into the deep end today and ordered my Centerforce II Clutch kit today! Due to the backorder situation, it will be Feb 15th before I receive it, but I am excited. I've checked around with some trusted mechanics and best quote to install it so far is $800. Gonna keep shopping to see if I can find a better price. I have a friend in west TN with a shop and he's pretty good. Said he and I can do it. Not sure, but we shall see.
thanks,

Nice! My installer - Mike at Keystone said it was pretty straight forward and it took about 6 hours . There were some challenges with bleeding the clutch master cylinder - took a lot of time. Good luck! $800 sounds reasonable.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Centerforce Dual Friction KDF157077 and the Centerforce II KCFTT157077 is? Both are listed on Quadratec for slightly different prices.

My understanding is that the dual friction - what I have… is grippier, more aggressive and has more pedal effort out of the 2. I chose this for towing and off road use. The Centerforce 2 is designed to be similar to stock pedal feel /effort but simpler, tougher single clutch design than stock and still heavier flywheel so an upgrade over the stock clutch. I went back and forth in this but settled on the more aggressive and I’m happy with my choice. Good luck !

Thanks for clarifying things, I couldn’t find anything explaining the difference.

Folks, as I posted above, I ordered my Centerforce clutch kit about a week ago. Just to be cautious, I contacted Jeep about what impact this could have on my warranty. It saddens me to tell you that they told me that by adding this clutch to my Mojave, my warranty will be voided.
They told me that as the vehicle is mine, I am free to do whatever I wish, but the powertrain warranty will be gone. So........ I canceled my order with Quadratec for the clutch.

Just wanted others to know what I was told.

I guess you have to wait until the warranty runs out. Tough decisions. But if you'd have bought it before the recall, they'd have to pay you for it, per the language on the recall, where they have to reimburse you for any out of pocket costs you incurred for repair.

Yep, you're right. I was really stoked about it, but I cannot gamble with the warranty on a new vehicle like that. I'm just glad I was able to cancel the order and had not already installed it. Bummer.

Is the clutch really covered in the powertrain warranty? Thought it was considered a wear component like brake pads. Along the lines of you’re going to have to prove that you didn’t burn your clutch out and it was a design or manufacturing defect.

the clutch disk and pressure plate, etc is only covered for 12,000 miles and 1 year per the warranty. Jeep cannot void your warranty wholesale for replacing a faulty and dangerous factory part with an improved aftermarket part. They of course will not service or repair the clutch, pressure plate or flywheel but can’t deny a radio replacement or other unrelated claim. Good luck!

There is also this clause

Thanks for adding this, Brian. So, it sounds like the warranty wait may only be a year and not the full term coverage. I figured if anyone had examined it thoroughly, it would have been you.

Sounds like the same issue i've had for a few months. Yes, sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the dash, or a bit deeper. Intermittent, but quite frequent, happens in 2nd or 3rd typically around 2500 to 3000 rpm. I'm running stock rubi gears, wheels and suspension. Very annoying and because i'm worried about damage tends to cause me to upshift early to stop the noise. Too intermittent for dealer to diagnose, we tried.
Hey man any luck on diagnosing this problem

Nope. Hadn't noticed it for awhile then it started making that sound again, right around 3000 rpm. Fairly sure it's coming from the dash area, guessing it's in the instrument cluster.
