Tires, Gears, and MPG

Just did a drive from San Antonio to Austin. Before we left SA, I filled up and reset the A-trip odometer. I have left the B-trip odometer untouched since I took delivery of the truck.

The A-trip odometer reads 22.5 MPG and I saw a high of 22.8. This was 90% highway averaging 65-70 MPH.

The B-trip odometer shows 19.5 and is a reflection of city and highway combined since I took delivery.

I have a ‘22 Mojave with 37s and 4.10s. I’ve had this setup for ~1,200 miles and the truck drives great and always sees 8th gear.

Overall, I’m very happy with the setup and gas mileage.

*** Updated with final numbers including gas pump data for the “real” calculation.

My round trip was 156.8 miles. I refuled with 7.836 gallons. That comes to 20.01 MPG.

Is it correctly calibrated? My used 2020 was showing terrific numbers and I was skeptical. I had it checked it showed it was set by the previous owner to larger tires.

Mines set right and on long trips I've saw 18.5 Mpgs as the highest ever with 4.10 gears and 37's and i have light 37's, Kanati Trail Hogs that only weigh 72lbs. There is definitely something wrong with the Calibration on your computer, no way your getting Mpgs like that unless it's a diesel. I see 17.2 with mine average with no reset since October when I put the new 37's on. Have you checked to see if it's Calibrated right?

When I shopped for my wheel/tire combo, I specifically searched for the lightest setup I could find in my budget. I don't recall exact #s but my new wheel/tire combo is +-3 pounds from stock. I'm sure this is helping my situation.

What was your speed?

Not sure what you mean. I checked it on the highway. So it was probably between 60-70 mph.
