I swap between standard doors and tube doors very often. Some time ago, I stopped bothering to put the door hinge nuts back in. That way, I don't need to mess with unscrewing/rescrewing them back in every time I swap the doors.
Does anyone else do this? Any thoughts or experiences on what problems this may cause?
The only issues I can think of are maybe:
A) Tube doors less secure during serious collision; pop off the hinges, perhaps.
B) Dirt getting into the hinges/hinge bolt threads.
I don't realistically see either of these as being a significant concern for me, but figured I'd solicit the forum for opinions.

My wife gave a stocking stuffer this year of those pins that screw on to protect the threads so I don't have to put bottom nut on. Debating if I will use them this summer or not. I take off/put on doors often and this would be a little quicker.

When I got my JTR, almost 2 yrs ago, I took off my doors and never put those damm nuts back on. I did replace the hinge sleeves with derlin ones. When I take my doors off, I just use a towel and clean the bolts on the doors… easy peasy.

I take them out the first time I take the doors off for the year and don’t put them back in until it’s too cold to be doorless.

They definitely took some dirt into them but cleaned out easily.

I took mine off the first time I took the doors off and put in the screw-on pin caps that way its easy to put the doors back on. The bolts have never gone back on. Only wish I could get some color-matched caps. I thought about painting them sting grey but figured it would just get scratched off

Took off the front doors and just tossed them in the center console were they remain. Never considered dirt getting in there.

I will remove them the first time I take the doors off and put them in the console like I did on my JK, never to be used again. I used to put them back on on my YJ thinking they would save my doors from being stolen, guess what, didn't work, the doors were stolen anyway (only time it's ever happened) so now I throw caution to wind and take my chances.

Thanks for the feedback. Didn't know that the easy-insert pins were even a thing. Ordered a set.

You didn’t want to throw them into the storage box under the back seat???
