So here is the deal i have been searching for a while hoping someone would make some heavy duty stock height rear springs

I DD with an expedition one duel rear tire swing, canopy, and RTT about 600 pounds is probably fair

with 2 friends and ski gear i can hit bump stops going down 2 lane small highways going up skiing and it really irritates me.

I have air bags i haven't put in yet i just feel like ill need to go bigger shocks at the same time to get the bounce down

SO what's the point of all this?

I found dobinsons springs (Australian) one of the few places that has advertised heavier springs for designated weights

440-660

880-1210

I emailed them about cutting a coil off to reduce height (and i might still do that)

BUT they said they would make STOCK HEIGHT springs at the increased weight loads if we got 20 orders

I don't know how many people that would be interested in stock height with increased weight (or if there was a shop that wanted to make the order and just sell them so i don't have to collect 5,000 bucks) But i feel like it comes up pretty often

I was thinking about the 440-660 for stock heights and adding bags for the few heavy trips a year

Thoughts?

Or is there a shop/vender that feels they have enought requests to front the bill?

Hey Mike

We can design something for stock height with that much weight but I fear that it won't cover the minimum qtys we have to develop a new part number. We would need atleast 20 pairs (20 vehicles) to be able to design a new part number. If we can gather that many vehicles it would take about 4 months to make and bring over stateside.

Thanks,
David Otero

I would want to know more about the loads. I worry it's a mute point due to gvwr limits on the frame as it exists

I swapped Max Tow springs into my Mojave, with 1 &3/8" spacers to match height of Mojave springs, plus a little ,so far very happy.

I really wish I had drove across one of our quarry scales when truck was new , as my GVW is 6140lbs., payload cap is 1129 lbs. giving me a truck weight of 5011 lbs. I have a RSI cap 170-200lbs, front hitch 25lbs., hitch skid, and some small skids for shocks and control arms 75lbs. some recovery gear and tools under rear seat, 75lbs. set of traction boards in bed 30lbs., full tank of gas 165lbs. driver weight included in GVW is 150lbs. so add 220lbs for wife and I, did not add rockbloks, RC side steps as took off factory rock rails and they were easily heavier then those two items. Should be at 5801lbs. but drove over one of our quarry scales with wife and full tank of gas and was at 5910 lbs. giving me 230lbs yet and there is nothing in the bed, and we bought a 19 foot camper with dry weight of 2865 lbs. and 380 lbs hitch weight! I did tow a 4000lb. generator in the snow storm yesterday behind gladiator and it didn't sag much if any and even in the snow it towed great.

I'm going to GVW jail for sure......Jack

im not trying to tow i know alot of people are adding weight with bumpers and overland gear as i have and the rear springs are so soft i keep hitting bump stops when driving down back roads since the stock springs are soft "flexy" i kinda wish they were leaf sprun like the Tacos for better weight

with my bumper and canopy i have about 1.5 sag in the rear and the springs are so soft. i want a stiffer rate to keep the rear end for bouncing and bobbing but i still run some trails and don't want spacers popping out

I had sent you a PM, I think you will like the Max Tow springs with something like my Icon aluminum spacers, spacers make up the sag a bit and springs handle the weight much better and even with the Mojave I think the ride is close to factory, I only did the rear springs and my front might be an inch higher then yours from factory....Jack

I would start with a set of Max Tow rear springs and see how they work out. They are designed for the maximum weight the Gladiator is supposed to carry. If those and some air bags don't work, then it is probably too much weight to carry.

Watch the Member Marketplace for take-offs. I was able to get a complete Max Tow suspension set for free, just had to drive a while and pick it up.

I can understand the want/need of heavier springs. I find the Rubi is too soft with little to no weight added. One doesn't necessarily need heavier springs to accommodate for overloading, a lot of times it's just wanting a stiffer ride.

If it can be accomplished by going with a higher rated spring, then that is much cheaper than stepping way up to adjustable reservoir shocks.
