So, I was able to fish the wire through the tray up top, behind the screen and front controls and then ran it under the edge of the center console up beside the passenger seat. I see some wires running up into the center console and was thinking that I could maybe put a hole in the bottom inside of the center console and bring it up there, but there's obviously stuff running all through and around the center console. Has anyone found a safe place to put a hole big enough for a USB cable to run through so I can get to the usb in the center console? I want to use CarPlay, but the ones in the back seat don't support it. I'm trying to avoid having a cable plugged into the front console all the time.

Have you considered using one of the wireless CarPlay adapters?
Then use a Magsafe mount that uses +12V from a source under the dashboard.

If you're determined to run USB out the bottom of the center console, use a micro-USB cable, then put an adapter on it in the console; that way you can drill a much smaller hole.

I cut the wire to the MagSafe. It drew too much power from the USB ports and would give me errors and wouldn't charge. The reviews I was seeing on the wireless ones was that they weren't reliable. I'd love it if they just worked, but I don't want something I have to screw around with to get to work. My Subarus have issues with CarPlay where they just won't work sometimes and it's a pain.

I've both a ver. 2 & ver. 3 CarLinkit, and both will, at times, decide to be fussy. The ver. 3 works a bit better, and it links to the phone via WiFi, so it sounds better.
But neither are 100% reliable.

You may want to test using that port for CarPlay in a real-world/extended situation. I have found that port to be unreliable at best, and system/screen freezing at worst.

I've been keeping my phone in the center console plugged in for CarPlay and it's been working really well. I decided to add the RamMount for off-road maps and hate the wire sticking out of the dash because of the "Media" cover being flipped up.

This video came so close to showing the underside of the center console. ??‍♂

Don’t like having cables hanging in front of everything. Looks messy.
