4wd lever hard to pull back in to 4wd?

Is it me or the truck, but it is hard to pull the lever back in to 4wd, when I pull it back in to 4H it has a good amount of tension on it making it somewhat difficult to pull it backwards, is this normal? from what I have seen in videos looks like most people's shift lever have very little tension on them, is yours soft and easy to pull or do you have to fight ? 2022 mojave not even a month old

Are you rolling? Like 4MPH. Make sure motion is firm and continuous, the way you pour a beer properly when you open a tap.

I have tried it stopped and rolling, same tension, looked over the manual to make sure I was doing it right

Chances are it's just because it's new and you haven't gotten used to it yet. If you haven't had another vehicle with a manual 4wd shifter recently it just seems excessive at first. It will get easier as it breaks in.

Yes using the 4wd is hard for the first few time using in. As others have said, some rolling helps.

one caveat… do not engage 4wd in dry pavement. That’s my rule.

Ive had a 4 jeeps before this one all manual 4wd shifters, none this hard to pull back, Ill give it a few more weeks then off to the dealership

You can do it in drive at a crawl.

If I was going to go into 4L I would shift to N but the issue is going into 4H or just moving the lever in general
