Wandering if anyone has replaced their front brake pads yet. I just finish rotating my tires and noticed I was going to need front pads soon and checked out Mopar pads first and they are over $200 a set which to me is expensive for a set of pads. So if anyone has changed theirs what did you go with and are you satisfied with the way they grab and being quiet?
Yes, I have replaced the front with Mopar pads. I did it a while ago, but, I do not remember them being that expensive. My rotors looked good, so, I sandpapered both sides for a while, then, just replaced the pads. I think that was about 5K miles ago, and the rotors and pads are performing great.

My kid is going through all his ASE certs and I had him flush the brake system and opted for DOT 4.
Wanted the higher boiling point. Heavier truck now with all the mods and lots of mountain driving.
Pads arrive today from NAPA.

A spade shovel works just as well. Most off roaders carry them. Slides across all surfaces, levers tires to height and rotates to align studs. I’m am old guy and don’t lift tires anymore.

I remember seeing my dad show me how to do this and I thought it was the dumbest idea ever…until it worked perfectly. I used the same shovel technique in my garage whenever I would swap 33’s and never had an issue.

Can someone please explain to me the mindset of a person who spends 50-60k on a Jeep, 3-5k on tires and wheels, 2-5k on lift kits and other BS, and then whines about 200 bucks for the single most important safety component of the vehicle.???
Try the EBC Orangestuff brake pads for Jeeps. Your head will ? but you’ll stop in time??

I don’t mind spending money when needed just don’t want to spend unnecessary for a name on a box. And no I don’t need to try your orange pads to see what they are like I spent enough time on the track with my Porsche

So, let’s see. They spent 50-60k on the truck, 3-5k on tires, wheels and 2-5k on other stuff. That’s 55-70k! So technically like me, they prolly don’t have a Jeep money tree in the yard. It’s economic’s really. People who are money conscious are smart like those who just made a great deal on tires at Walmart.

Just Empty Every Pocket might not be a big deal for you but some of us have families to feed while chasing our passion. What do I care if someone want to save a buck?

You shouldn’t either. Understand now?

You should see the whining on the car pages where they spend over 5K on engine mods, insist they NEED to get over 500 HP but gripe about spending money on a master cylinder (talking 50-60 bucks) or a proportioning valve when they add disk brakes up front - and another guy comes in and says it's not really necessary because he's getting by fine without it.
Some DIYers scare me.
I start with the brakes and work up when doing restorations.

Then stop whining and go find a great deal on good pads. Oh and by the way, if you wait till you need pads to look for a deal, there wont be one. The time to look is 10,000 miles before you need them. Especially in today’s market.

Na, I bought a set over a year ago, I try to keep regular wear items on hand. I had a replacement clutch for my LJ setting on a shelf for many years before I needed it. I've got a complete set of brake pads for it too. 3-4 oil filters for my JT even, probably 4 or so to fit my LJ and other Jeeps.

Air filters, oil filters, oil, brake fluid, lubes of various types, coolant of various types, wiper blades - and for my cars, fenders, grills, quarter panels for the SX4 (left and right), bumpers, glass that I can still find, for the lawn tractor - hydrostatic fluid, filters, oil, other stuff.
I need to stock up again, I've fallen behind.

Very sorry, my apologies for this - I just can't resist! ->

This. Before I went big turbo and 400hp on my Audi, I went Porsche 911 Turbo Brembos and 323mm drilled rotors. Driving BBK cars is a blast.

On my Nismo. I have RacingBrake 2 piece rotors, Ti heat shields, cooling ducts, and running the Carbotech 10x front pads and 8X rear pads. On corn, I'm pushing 700HP. 93 is around 600+.

Hate to be seat of the pants, but a brake flush and DOT 4.....
Like the response from the pedal.
Probably in my head....but JT stops nicer.
