Did you see what my dealership charged me for the fuel filter? Bastards.

Wow. The fuel filter service is all I paid for. Filter was $75 and the net bill was just over $88. I have around 8500 on the truck. Had the first oil change done @ 2,500ish. The oil lift monitor was down to 13%…and I accidentally had a day off and as luck would have it I found a dealer with a filter, so I ran with it.

Did you have the service done at a Ferrari dealership?

I think I’d follow up and check why they charged so much. You’re welcome to print mine out. It lists the service and the same part number for the filter.

I ordered 2 oil filters in Feb from FactoryMoparDirect.com. They cancelled the order, saying out of stock, no ETA. Got e-mail today says my filters are on the way. Part # 68507598AA , price each $69.33.
These came yesterday.

At that price back flush the old ones and sell in Fleabay as "refurbished" :)
Don't give anyone any ideas like that. LOL

Got mine (x-2) from the same place yesterday and they have the same build date.

Actually, I think you and I discussed this in another thread and I ordered mine the day after you.

Glad you got them but Dieselfiltersonline.com has the same ones listed for about 47 bucks each plus shipping. No clue how dealers/online part retailers can sell them for 70 buck a pop and sleep at night.

Do they have them in stock? That's the issue. I ordered mine back in early Feb. and they finally showed up. I would gladly buy them from Dieselfilteronline if they have them on stock.

Next time around. I ordered these and forgot all about them. I got 1 free oil change from the dealer, plus the 3 from JeepWave. My plan is if the dealer doesn't have the filters on hand when I need an oil change. Then i can do it myself. i go in tomorrow for the first oil change. I'm picking up a fuel filter too I think.

It's called retail. Online retailers obviously can sell cheaper - volume as that's all they sell, filters, no store front, and probably not a large stock. They may even have only a couple of employees.
My wife an I visited one of the online retailers for some supplies she uses. Two people run the thing out of an old part of a warehouse in an obscure part of KC, KS. Low taxes, low rent, low payroll, not high skilled employees, would be my bet.
Dealers have crazy overhead, insurance, payroll, and more.
I've been in retail. Thank God I'm out of it - there's no way to survive with the online prices some of these outfits are getting for the stuff we sold. There's no way we could do it.
There's rules on wages, insurance, hours, we paid rent to be in a decent part of town with foot traffic, taxes (inventory taxes, we had to stock stuff - many of these places don't stock a lot at a time)

I get it - I've lived it.

Got my first oil change today at the dealer. It was a freebee. While I was waiting on the tech to get done with it. I talked to the parts guy. Asked him about buying a oil filter and fuel filter. He said he has just a few of each and that they are not selling either filter. They are keeping them for customers that are getting service. Said that he can't order more until 5/17. Plus there is a 58,000+ oil filters back ordered in the system. That 12,000 will be released in 2 weeks.

Now I have to find a fuel filter on line.

I found mine at one of the Mopar.com sites. Can’t remember which one but I had it within a week. I could be wrong, but I believe this filter is used on several other vehicles and it doesn’t have the cap installed, which may be part of the issue on the oil filters. If they could just engineer the oil filter to just be an insert, I feel the backlog wouldn’t be as bad…but what do I know.

I bought two oil filters two months ago, for when my Jeep Wave changes run out. I showed up at the dealer for my second wave oil change today, after scheduling it last week, and they informed me when I arrived they don’t have any oil filters. They could have told me that over the past few days when I received text and email reminder spam about my appointment, but alas they did not. A 45mi roundtrip—wasted. Had I known, I would have brought my own and charged them for it, but I would not have given it up for free. I could have always canceled too, but they waited until I arrived to let me know. I really dislike dealer service shops.

You think someone sits and types out personal notes or those are sent individually?

No one at a dealership (for any make) sits and looks at what's coming in tomorrow or the next day or next week. They know what's coming in when it shows up, or someone tries to look for an opening to schedule work in.
