Funny thing is, if you go to Amazon and enter the part number there are tons of them ranging in price from 18 to 20 and probably came off of the same assembly line as the Mopar units.

I sort of doubt it....... it's also interesting how many use the same stock photos and like certain other things on eBay, appear to be from the same importers just using different seller names.

I would be worried the dealer didn't change the filter if there is that much of a shortage, plenty of stories here about wrong oil, too much oil, drain plug/fill cap problems.

Maybe, maybe not. That still is an assumption of risk when getting it off of Ebay.

One thing if a major USA based company/brand like FRAM, WIX and Purolator offered it cheaper, one would have recourse with them if there was a problem with the filter and any damages it may have caused. An Ebay seller is not indemnified to cover it.

Yes, and for me, IMO, that's a good reason.
There are a lot of "counterfeit" items sold on eBay and even Amazon. A friend got smacked buying software from Amazon. Luckily, Microsoft held him not accountable in things and thanked him for contacting them - but they shut down some Amazon sellers.
Another got zinged by USB drives. Copies.

Wix has plants all over - including the USA. This isn't about what's good or what's bad based on where it's made - it's based on is it a legit branded product with backing, support and warranty, or is it something where you have no support or recourse?

Mann+Hummel owns and manufactures Wix Oil filters.
They make Wix oil filters in several countries other than the US, including China, Mexico, Venezuela, Ukraine, and Poland, but it's still to their specs and backed by them.
In North America, it includes NC, SC, Canada and other locations.

If an oil filter normally sells for 50 bucks, I'd be wary of anything less than half that price. 50% I could account for in retail mark-up, etc. but going that deep with a discount, I'm wary.

China has a problem with what is called "3rd shift" counterfeiting. That is items made in the same plant as the original for the OEM partner, but is done off the books to fill the private white label suppliers. Part may look the same, but the quality control and materials used can be suspect.

It's worse in plants over there where USA companies contract with the factory. There was a huge example related to flooring products a number of years ago........... and the guy that created the ShopTask machine found out the hard way - if you contract, you don't have secure control over your designs. If you own the plant, there's still a risk, but you do have some more control.
Once your designs are over there...................
Anyway, back to your point if I catch it right - could be made in the same places, but not "for" the company having them made.
I saw all of those filters when I was trying to see if I could be of any help and locate some legit name filters - when I saw those, I thought I'm not even going to mention them. I had a really uneasy feeling about them.
I'll take a chance on some parts - if it fails I'm out the cost of the item and nothing more (and if my wife knew, she'd give me an education).
But a filter - if it fails I'm out a whole lot more (engine, plus maybe a week of total silence and cooking my own meals)

If it helps anyone, the Jeep dealer in Chiefland, FL has filters and oil in stock. Just got the oil serviced, fuel filter, DPF flashed, coolant leak fixed and front end TSB parts ordered. Very nice folks over there.

So no more filters here in North Texas. They are getting them in one or two at a time each week.

Dealer told me that if I had a third party do the oil change, bring them the receipt and they would reimburse me. Jeep then reimburses the dealership.
Crazy!

Well, it’s like what I used to do with…well…let’s say seashells. I travel all over and I’d stop at a lot of different places just to see who has bulk seashells and for what price. So over the last 2-3 years when everyone and there dog were scrambling for any seashells I didn’t have to worry. Start looking after you get your service done. Over time, at your leisure, bebop into a couple of parts departments and see if they have 1 in stock and pick it up. Right now, many dealers won’t sell them as inventory is low and they need them for the service dept. Down the road if they become more plentiful let them use 1 of yours and deduct it off the service.

I ordered a replacement from Docs diesel. Made here in the USA and have 5 star reviews so will see what happens. If there is any issues I would just get a Mopar one before I took it in to the dealership

Now that I’m thinking about it when I had my first oil change done, it did take like 4 hours because they had to order oil from a dealer across town. They drained my pan then realized they didn’t have it. In reality, it was a minor inconvencible. I would imagine these will start to trickle into stock in the next few weeks or months.
