Funny thing is, if you go to Amazon and enter the part number there are tons of them ranging in price from 18 to 20 and probably came off of the same assembly line as the Mopar units.

I sort of doubt it....... it's also interesting how many use the same stock photos and like certain other things on eBay, appear to be from the same importers just using different seller names.Funny thing is, if you go to Amazon and enter the part number there are tons of them ranging in price from 18 to 20 and probably came off of the same assembly line as the Mopar units.
Maybe, maybe not. That still is an assumption of risk when getting it off of Ebay.Funny thing is, if you go to Amazon and enter the part number there are tons of them ranging in price from 18 to 20 and probably came off of the same assembly line as the Mopar units.
Yes, and for me, IMO, that's a good reason.Maybe, maybe not. That still is an assumption of risk when getting it off of Ebay.
One thing if a major USA based company/brand like FRAM, WIX and Purolator offered it cheaper, one would have recourse with them if there was a problem with the filter and any damages it may have caused. An Ebay seller is not indemnified to cover it.
China has a problem with what is called "3rd shift" counterfeiting. That is items made in the same plant as the original for the OEM partner, but is done off the books to fill the private white label suppliers. Part may look the same, but the quality control and materials used can be suspect. If an oil filter normally sells for 50 bucks, I'd be wary of anything less than half that price. 50% I could account for in retail mark-up, etc. but going that deep with a discount, I'm wary.
It's worse in plants over there where USA companies contract with the factory. There was a huge example related to flooring products a number of years ago........... and the guy that created the ShopTask machine found out the hard way - if you contract, you don't have secure control over your designs. If you own the plant, there's still a risk, but you do have some more control.China has a problem with what is called "3rd shift" counterfeiting. So no more filters here in North Texas. They are getting them in one or two at a time each week.
Dealer told me that if I had a third party do the oil change, bring them the receipt and they would reimburse me. Jeep then reimburses the dealership.
Crazy!
Did you see what my dealership charged me for the fuel filter? Bastards. If it helps anyone, the Jeep dealer in Chiefland, FL has filters and oil in stock. Just got the oil serviced, fuel filter, DPF flashed, coolant leak fixed and front end TSB parts ordered. Very nice folks over there.
