Getting back into Jeeps after a multi-year hiatus and planning on purchasing a used Gladiator (rubicon trim). I've seen mention about factory lifts being available and trying to understand if there's a more technical way to know if one has been installed other than just thinking "that looks taller", because i have thought that some have looked taller on the ones i've looked at. When i do the VIN check, most mention Fox Performance Shocks, but nothing more than that.

So is there something that would specifically be called out on the VIN check, or is there something i can look at on the suspension to know if a factory lift has been installed?

You can look at the shocks and get a pretty good idea. The OEM lift kit comes with fox shocks that are silver with black fox labels. Rubicon factory shocks have red fox labels on the shocks.

Yea you can't really do a factory lift with gladiators. The Rubicon and Mojave have different suspension than the other models and sit higher, bit it is standard, not extra. Dealers do often install the MOPAR lift which has silver shocks with black lettering for an easy distinction. I'd imagine they'd have it listed on the sticker with a premium if they added it.

Beyond what everyone is saying, it will also be very obvious vs a stock suspension Jeep, regardless of trim.

its been hard for me to tell just because I haven’t been around the gladiators in person enough to know. And when you see pictures there’s not always details around if it’s lifted or not. And since I’m car shopping remotely as most dealerships that have rubicon’s are 3-4hrs away, I only have pictures to rely on until I narrow my search down and make the drive. So asking the dealer to snap a photo of the shock is the easiest way to confirm.

So if the shock looks like this, it means it has a mopar lift on it?

Most likely yes, those are the shocks that come with the Mopar lift kit, dealer will probably also have it in the listing.

That’s lifted, for sure. Looks like the mopar 2” lift.

Is it used? Looks like a lot of spray from driving around. Possibly the GM, Sales managers demo?

I hope it’s a demo, Jeep gives the dealership like an extra $2,500 for them. This means you have an additional $2,500 in bargaining power.

My wife’s WK2 was driven by the dealer principle’s daughter. In addition to x% below invoice, we also got another $2k off.

Can you elaborate by what you mean with “spray”?
It is used, around 8k miles.

Spray, as in, when you drive through a puddle and water sprays up. Spray, as in, not clean.

Looks like someone removed the rock rail and put on plastic sliders? I’d mention this in trying to get a better deal.

If it’s not a really good deal and you can wait, I’d recommend ordering from Gupton who will do like 8% below invoice. Which is just about the same price as used.
