The Tazer has a lot of "live" features if you're looking for those things. I mainly just wanted to set my TPMS lower, prepare for larger tires in the future, and enable ORP so I went with JSCAN for now. Just didn't realize at the time that ORP won't work without a SGW bypass in place apparently.

I am not convinced that the Tazer can enable ORP either without leaving it in place acting as a SGW bypass.
Drove to work today watching ORP and everything worked great...I agree, I don't think the live functions are anything I care about as of now. Maybe down the road but not worth 250-300 with everything else on the list.

Good to hear. My ORP gauges seem to work fine too driving around as long as I have my ECRI SGW Bypass in place. Still have no idea why some of the gauges don't work without the bypass in place, makes no sense at all.

Sure, here it is:

https://www.amazon.com/ECRI-Security-2018-2020-Wrangler-Gladiator/dp/B08DLB6VH6

It's only $35 if you just want a tidier solution for a SGW Bypass. I don't think there's any software version on it and I don't think it's updatable, it's plug and play.
Looks like I will have to get this too from your experiences. I have the bypass cable already. So plug in that cable into the 2 ports on the jeep and this ECRI goes where I would usually plug in the BT OBD adapter? And it remains there so all the gauges will function?

Do you have the bypass cable with an SGW bypass built in?

Like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Chrysler-Ada...DEGRADED/dp/B08MQ2LBYT/ref=asc_df_B08MQ2LBYT/

If it worked for you to program the Jeep with JSCAN or whatever tool you used, then it should work to enable the gauges and you woudn't need another one like the ECRI device.

The only issue I can see with the cable set above is that it would be tougher to tie it up permanently under the dash vs the ECRI device which is much smaller.

I do have that exact cable. I used it with JSCAN to change for halogen to LED, and adjust my tire sizes. So I don't need that ECRI. So I would leave the OBD port side open?

As far as I can tell yes. The two plugs that go into the Jeep's SGW would go into that cable and then the other end just leave it alone. I don't have that cable though so I can't say for sure. The cable has an SGW bypass built in so that should be enough to make your gauges work.

The only advantage then to the ECRI device is that it's smaller and doesn't have that excess cable to tie up and stash somewhere. You could use the ECRI instead of that cable if space under the dash is an issue.

Thanks. I will report back once my radio comes in and do some tests.

I picked up a Tazer Mini JL on sale so once I get that I will roll back the ORP settings from JSCAN, then try enabling ORP through the Tazer. I have to know now if it will truly activate ORP and have them work without the Tazer being left connected to the vehicle. I really don't think it will, but I will post back my results when I get it and confirm what it actually does.

Got the Tazer today, and as expected, ORP do NOT work without the Tazer installed either. It behaves exactly the same as programming it with JSCAN.

I turned ORP pages off on Saturday to give it plenty of time to "learn" that they aren't there. The ORP pages went away right away on the head unit so I know it was turned off.

So now I'm torn between reselling the Tazer and just keeping what I had, or leave the Tazer installed and maybe utilize some of the fancier things it can do at some point...

I can confirm as well. Installed my new 8.4” and activated ORP via jscan. Restarted the ecu and all the gauges were working.
Took out the security bypass and only 2 gauges worked.

Reinstalled the bypass and all gauges are functioning. I tucked it up and leaving it installed.
Are there any cons to leaving it installed? I will remove it for dealer trips.

I skimmed 7 pages and did not throughly read….. sorry if this is a duplicate.

So- off road pages has to verify the vehicle vin through Uconnect in order to display all gauges????

I recently left the Death Valley area…. But this is one of my favorite places in America to explore- there is little to No service by any provider throughout what feels like 95% of that area. It’s also hot AF there for 75% of the year…. Gauges are something I would have displayed almost constantly… so if this cannot confirm the vin it will not display???

With the factory installed 8.4 Uconnect and factory optioned Off-road Pages, it periodically checks in with FCA to verify that the VIN is authorized for the ORP app. If it is not verified, the app doesn't show up on the screen. That's how it worked when the JT was released, I don't know if FCA has made any changes over the years.

Im certainly no expert but I have seen no negatives to leaving it on...

Should be fine. ECRI said it's fine to leave it installed. Most people with a Tazer leave it connected as well. Even infotainment sells a single-function ORP enabler that requires their SGW to be installed to maintain the ORP too.

Just unplug it if you take it in for dealer service and you should be OK. I am leaving my ECRI permanently hooked up as well.
