The stronger struts I used are not too hard to close, and I'm not the biggest guy. I think if you want to have heavy stuff on top of the UD and have the struts hold it open, you need to research locking struts. Get the right pressure to just assist with opening it and then lock them in place...
Alright, I order these 100lbs struts off of Amazon and they are a direct replacement for the struts that ACE includes with the UD. They make the UD stay open much better and I no longer worry about reaching through the side and the thing slamming down on my arm. The UD is still easy enough to...
I have to have the tire size adjustment. I wish that feature would work without the Tazer in the OBD port. If it comes down to it, I'll have to keep the Tazer and just not have the vehicle info on my Guardian page... I only really need the internet based remote start anyways.
I've got a different set of struts that are supposed to be here on Thursday. The compressed length is slightly shorter, but I don't think that will matter (longer would though). I'll try and get them installed either Friday afternoon or over the weekend and report back.
My JTR does not update the Guardian pages with the vehicle info either. The last update it received was 08/18/2020. I'm sure I need to update the Tazer, so I'll try doing that this afternoon and see what it does.
I was talking to a rep on the Guardian site about it not updating, and they are...
The replacement struts for my replacement struts showed up and they were the wrong ones again  Apparently they have 10" struts in the packages marked marked as 15" struts. So I guess I'll have to try either a different source or one of the different brands.
Well, my replacement struts showed up and they sent me the wrong ones. I got some rinky-dink 10" struts that I can push in super easy. Another set of replacements should be here on Sunday.
Never even thought about that. But I don't find it too much of a bother, when it does flash in the side mirror it just gets me to do a quick scan to make sure everything is towing fine. I can almost forget my trailer is back there so a little reminder does not hurt.
Here is what lives behind my Gladiator.
That is an Off Grid Trailers Expedition 2.0. It will go any where my JT (or my old JKUR) will go. It has 21" of ground clearance (on the stock 32" tires, I've replaced those with 35s), 50° departure angle, weighs 1700lbs empty (it is all...
Take a close look at the receiver and your spare tire. The receiver was designed to give that some protection.
My receiver dragged here but there was not a single scuff mark on my spare.
Welcome to CO guys. Do your self a favor and join TrailDamage.com (I think it's $12 a year). They have something like 700+ trails in their database. You can search for trails by difficulty ratings and/or location (among other things). Just about any trail in the 1-4 range would be what you...
I don't recall any real difference in power between the stock 33s and the 35s (I have the 8 speed if it matters). This is with or without the trailer.
Did you notice a power difference between the 31s and 34s when not towing?
