As a reminder. I’m no expert. Which is why I’m asking. I called Yukon and asked. First thing guy says. Anything past 4.10 is going to make noise on some level.
Just curious as I’m going to get gears done in a few. Do you get any new noises going to 4.88 or 5.13s. Some people say yes there will be some whining/buzzing. Others are saying it should be quiet like stock. So in a few weeks once I get it done. Expect a new noise or should be quiet.
Its hard to be under 2300. You have yukon kit $1200, shop time 5 hours or so per axle, some disposables, and the reinspection/oil change.
When you break it down, its not that crazy for a skilled job
depends on where you live. shop time is expensive where we live if you want it done right. My opinion is $300-$400 is not worth having issues with gears. Parts alone are almost $1200. Stick to reputable shop and try and combine work to lower cost.
also i dont think you need gears with 35s...
I’ve got a sport a on 37s. I’m upgrading to 4.88s. What do you guys think is a safe weight to tow? I know one thing is pulling power and the other is cooling. I know the max tow has the 4.10 and wider axles. Just wondering what you guys think is the safe weight to tow with the set up
I would call each one of these companies and see which one you vibe with the best. At the end of the day they all have a reputable name and will be appropriate for majority of people see uses. Keep in mind who you want on the other line if and when you have an issue or if you need additional...
on a 3.5 inch lift. Is it normal for the springs to bow? Im having some slight outward bowing of my springs on the front. Axle is centered and springs are seated.
THoughts
I appreciate the help. I’m glad everyone was cool and supportive. We did the work today and got that rear axle as centered as possible. I’ll update tomorrow if it solved the issue. As frustrating as this was, I did enjoy learning how to measure and some info I didn’t know.
Im assuming, if...
yes. Kit has adjustable track bars. Where they went possibly wrong is the track bars are the length described by the kit. Which is wierd it would be off this amount
Ok an update. Both axles are shifted to the driver side. Front axle about half an inch and the rear axle is a a bit over an inch. I’m going to help him center it tomorrow. Would this be enough to cause a hard pull to the right?
I’m sure a few of you have seen my last thread helping a buddy with his jeep. I just spent a ton of time under it and drawing plum lines etc. Front axle is shifted to the driver side half an inch. Rear axle is shifted to the driver side a little more than an inch. As a favor I’m going to...
All eight control arms are within 1/8 of an inch or less.
found one of his texts with the alignmen. This was from one shop post alignment. I know he took it elsewhere after and while it’s been measured it has not been realigned after Something seems off from those reading. I know the one shop I...
