I have a 2020 Gladiator overland we on occasion get white smoke coming out from the exhaust and I have a rattling knock noise coming from the engine and also a ticking noise. Does anybody else have this problem? I have for less than 2000 miles. Sorry if this is my 1st time on a form are posting anything if I did something wrong

take it to a dealership right away. none of those things are "normal" in my opinion.

I’d try to get a video of it before going to the dealer

Not telling you that any of that is not a concern, but steam presents as white smoke and there is a fair amount of condensate that forms in the exhaust system after the engine is turned off.

This will appear as a puff of white "smoke" when the engine is started. Very common with short trips that the exhaust never comes up to full temperature.

Yes let's see a video....believe me you can tell the difference between condensation smoke and coolant in the engine smoke

So after sending it to the dealer and they check the PCV valve and a few other things they asked me to switch to

higher octane gas after I switch to the higher octane but gas I noticed no more knocking noise

I too noticed engine noise. Switched to 93 octane and its much better. I've only noticed smoke once after sitting for three weeks. Owned a year / 5700 miles.

It runs the same on both. But the engine makes a little more noise on 87. The smoke was right after start up and quickly stopped after a few seconds. Both are not that uncommon

Some oil consumption on start up is normal. Check out in the manual about how much oil consumption is considered "just fine". These engines want to run hotter than we remember and are designed to be most efficient when hot but this means they can be a little loose when cold which leads to recomended super light weight oil sneaking into chambers etc. A little huff and puff at start up here, a little misting at high RPM there; pretty soon you are just missing a quart of oil but that's okay.

How low is low octane in your area? I know places I can still buy 86 octane and once developed a ping from it under load when the engine is playing games with timing. Likely your pump says 87 but it may be god knows what, don't think it doesn't happen.

Sounds like you may be better off running some octane booster with every tank, jack up the toluene and xylene count to combat ping. Most of the bottles are just some kero,T&X and some dye to look pretty. Off hand, do you give it the boots on the regular? Babying these engines will not do them any favors in terms of chamber build up which promotes ping and knock (ask litebrite? too soon?) A good romp does them a lot of good.

I have overhauled dozens of engines and would recommend Chevron Techron every oil change. 1 oz./gal. Best to do that tank around town with periods of shutdown. Steady highway cruising does not allow the cleaner time to sit and soak into the deposits that build up. Lucas fuel system cleaner works well also.

I also have a slight engine Knock at low speed - either idle or in gear but no white smoke- 10000 miles
About 1500-2000 rpms
Should I have it checked?
Have had no problems other than heat coming out when ac on and no dealer
resolution
Suggestions/feedback
Thanks

I would Do that to make sure that you have a history sheet started with them and case it has to go back for something more serious
