2020 Gladiator no start

Mine starts with the aux battery disconnected. The 2018 JLs wouldn't start without a good aux battery, but that's also been addressed with a firmware update.

Interesting and very good to hear. I got mine in September last year, haven't had any updates so I can safely assume I never got an update for that. What was your build date? Or did you go and get this flash? Luckily for me I was planning on the dual battery kit anyway so no wasted money here!

Curious when you took delivery/your build date is @MemphisMississipp?

It would have been nice; if when the ignition was OFF that the PCM would separate the two batteries, and only have the batteries in parallel when the ignition was ON except during a Start Stop Event.

I am curious how Ford (and other manufacturers) implemented the Auto Start Stop only using a single battery.

You’re waiting to take it in? You’re a braver soul than me. I lucked out this time that the battery died at a convenient location/time and I’m concerned I may not be as fortunate next time.

I guess I could pick up a portable battery charger as a backup until I take it in for regular service.

The consensus on the JL site is that it was fixed in 2019, so only affects the 2018 JL. I'm pretty sure all JTs would have the fix. Mine was built in Nov 2019.

The Cherokees have a single battery system. I think they tended to leave people stranded in the intersection when the battery failed, the two battery system is the fix for that. Keeping the batteries separated when off would be good. I always thought it would be good to keep the aux battery as an emergency backup, separated all the time except to charge or an emergency.
