I hope they're meaning a full power retractable rear window that slides into a compartment behind the rear seat and then the hard top can be removed sans window. But sliding is just an odd way of putting it. To me a sliding rear window is generally the traditional "beer window." So I don't know. We haven't seen anything like that on the mules.
I put my money on a "beer" window...

Ugh. Better than 1 pc fixed I guess.

Maybe with the extra development time they’ll scale down the key fob. Would be nice to not walk around all day looking happy to see everyone and everything!

This timeline seems to bolster the belief of the public reveal at the LA auto show, no?

Thanks Jay for the update. Well, the JL was launched at the December '17 L.A. Auto Show and went into production afterwards, right? This puts it exactly 1year behind the JL release and initial production dates, correct?

But didn't the JL order banks opened before or after the L.A. show?

This at least gives more confidence that the 3.0 diesel will actually release at the JT's launch (unlike the Turbo 4 cylinder arriving months later on the JL). I've been mentally preparing myself for no 3.0 diesel at the JTs launch.

The rear window opening in some way seems mandatory to relieve cabin pressure from wind buffeting either with freedom top front panels off or front windows rolled down. A basic sliding window also seems the cheapest low-tech solution. Actually prefer it over the complex idea of a window that electrically lowers into the rear of the truck cab wall. It will probably even be a manual slider which will keep weight of the top down.

Lockable storage under the rear seat is really needed in an open top SUV or a 4 door pickup, so it seems doubly needed on the JT. Thanks Jeep for including it.

This hopefully means the back seat folds & tumbles forward or does the bottom tilt up or roll forward? Hopefully it's a split seat and not a single bench.

Seems easy enough to add another lock to the tailgate. While it doesn't matter much to me, I know a lot of people plan a hard tonneau cover so this will provide lockable rear bed storage.

At this point just no more delays Jeep...

This is all great news.
The timeline fits perfect for me.

Does the JL have adaptive cruise and forward colision? I don’t remember seeing it.

Bluetooth speaker? What does that mean? Separate from the radio? Strange to list it otherwise.

If the sliding rear window is vertical I’d be one happy Jeeper

Im think Detroit for the show, but I would be happy to be wrong and have it shown at LA.

Reason being is the JL Order Banks opened in Oct of 2017, and production started about the same time as the LA Auto show. If the JT follows this would be right on schedule with Detroit Autoshow.

What I do hope is that with the delays that JL Diesels are on the lots prior to JT order banks opening. This would give me a chance to see what the diesel would feel like in the platform and if it meets my expectations, as I'm about 80% sold on it, but if the motor isnt what I think it is, then I will likely be looking at the Raptor Ranger or F150 or possibly the Rebel TR (if similar in price to the F150 Raptor).

I think it is important to remember that the production of this vehicle required ripping up the old JK assembly line and replacing it with a production line for a pickup truck. The last JK just came off the line in early May so it has only been about 4 months - there is a lot involved with this changeover. I think it is probably 6 months until production starts and then they have a shake-down period running vehicles through the line and working out the bugs. I think it's January 2019 before road ready vehicles come off this line.

Yea the current rumors are dealer deliveries around April 2019, so you would be correct for production to start Jan sometime.

I don't think anyone should get their hopes up for most of these features being standard. A lot of the items will likely be additional ordering fees, or parts of packages. This is no different than any other truck company, but its nice to see that Jeep will at least be offering them.
