Buddy of mine at church had his Bronco come in Thursday. No offense to anyone who has one on order or has one, but I was underwhelmed at what I saw. The soft top was not tight and the back window had waves galore. I found the styling to be dull and unimpressive in person.
I saw one for the first time in the wild tonight. I was sitting at a table at an outdoor restaurant and it drove by me 15 feet away. I think underwhelmed is a good description. The next car that drove by in the other direction was a 4 door Wrangler. The Jeep is better looking. I’m a first time JEEP owner so I’m not biased like a die hard Jeep guy might be but the Wrangler is better looking. I’d love to see them in person side by side

Hey, currently, I'm in the same situation as you were, being strung along with a Bronco!

I reserved a Bronco on July 13, 2020, received a VIN April 22, 2021, then given several built dates, until it was built 08/05. So I actually have one with my name on it.

But a recent Ford email told me it will be sitting outside in a Ford lot until they can replace the bad top, which will probably be the earliest October, but more than likely November or December! So I'll get my 2021 in December 2021, yikes, and it will be exposed at all the elements, like bird poop, rats, pollution, sun, for months, which is angering many!

Originally, I was a member here wanting a Wrangler/Gladiator before Bronco broke the news of the Bronco, a vehicle that provided a nice ride with the ability to take off the doors/top, that's all I want, a mall crawler.

So that's why I back, well, it's really the Gecko Green that's bringing me back. I reached out to Daniel at Gupton's for a quote for a Gladiator Sport S yesterday. A concern I've always had is the steering problem with Wranglers/Gladiators, and the current chip issue. Each, Bronco and Gladiator, have positives and negatives, so I'm So I'm holding on to the Bronco for the time being until I figure out the Gladiator pricing with Gupton's.
Steering problem is massively overblown. The steel gear box mostly resolved it. If you are mildly handy with a wrench you can further improve it with for 60 bucks with the Mopar lower control arms to give extra caster.

Great to know! I’m just loving the Gecko Green! I only have to October, correct?

The fact that Broncos are stuck on dirt mountain is brutal. I know some people are saying ‘rot lot’ is overblown, but as someone without a garage, the elements can be rough, and if the bad batch tops aren’t water tight, it’s gonna be a mess.

Good luck on getting the gladiator you want. I can’t believe how much fun mine is.
Front panels off, a banger of a song, and an open road - and all my problems fly off with the wind!

IDK but the 2023 4Runner is looking like a class leader.

That... looks like a facelift. The body lines are nearly unchanged behind the rear door and along the rocker. If so, they basically did what they did with the 3rd gen Tacoma which was the 2nd gen with a new front end, a few new lines, and a new powertrain. Not 100% against it but it's not something that will remain competitive against the longer travel IFS Bronco and the Jeep that already outsells it.

lol how idiotic is that, I’m sorry. That’s like comparing a Sahara to a Rubicon ? The Outer Banks is a fancy Bronco on 32” tires. The Rubicon is going to be better than the Bronco when it comes to articulation but if you’re not comparing it to a Badlands you’re just wasting everyone’s time.

Methinks you messed up a bit with your quoting. That's from a completely unrelated thread, and has nothing to do with whatever you seem to have intended to comment on.

The video actually says they arent bothering comparing off roading between the 2 because of the difference in trim. It was instead about the every day livability, build and interior quality and features.

That said, the rear suspension on the OB and BL both use the same axle so it lifting that rear is gonna happen on any of the trims with those tires. Its still IFS and it while it has almost the same amount of wheel travel (thats UP and DOWN) the actual droop is significantly less than the jeep.

Yeah, I read the article. But, the photos posted here weren’t relating to that lol, they were posted to show nothing more then the Bronco wheel off the ground so let’s be honest. Either way yes they share the same axle but have completely different suspension setups and the Badlands front locking diff and sway bar disconnect. Anyways I already said the Wrangler will have better articulation but nobody would say the Sahara is as capable as a Rubicon just because they’re both IFS. I don’t have a dog in this fight, I like both vehicles so I’m speaking from an unbiased perspective. I just think posting photos of a mall crawling Outer Banks compared to a Rubicon is ridiculous, that outer banks is a daily driver trim. Not trying to argue either, just pointing out the truth.

Saw my first Bronco on the freeway yesterday. Very underwhelming and ugly as well. Just confirmed my thoughts from pictures. Fender flares and proportions confirmed as goofy as all get out……as least to me.

The goofiest proportion is that hood....flat long and out of spec with the rest of the vehicle....looks some ugly ass platypus bill.

One showed up at the Ford dealership by my house today. In person, it was a bit taller than our JKU 75th, which is kind of like a Sahara-Willys-Rubicon mashup, officially a Sahara. We weren't in the Gladiator Rubicon at the time, but I think it was taller than it too.

This was a Badlands. I like it. Not enough to buy a new vehicle again, but it's not bad looking. I'm not here to bash the Bronco at all. I have little brand loyalty. I've had a few jeeps, but I've had a lot of Hondas, Subarus, and VWs too. We've had some Fords as well (Fiesta ST and my wife had an F150 and a fusion).

From the exterior or what I could see of the interior, I saw nothing that'd make me say I need to go out and get one tomorrow. If I were in need of a vehicle right now, and it were available, I'd give it a chance. I think I like the look of the Wrangler and JT better though.

I have no idea how it'd offroad, but I'm sure it's fine for the green and blue trails we do, and would hold it's own on the harder black ones if that's your thing. They invested enough money into these that it's going to perform. So it's a matter of personal taste and which one you like better on the test drive.

Yeah, well the one I saw was the package with the 35” wheels, Sasquatch package I think they call it . Made it look even more foolish with the extra wide tacked on fender flares. Looks like they’re straight out of J.C. Whitney catalog. Definitely not for me.

Not here to Ford bash either. I’ve owned A Ford before and am currently eyeing an F150.
