I recently had the maintenance, esc, and etc warning lights come on while driving around the city, putting my Jeep into limp mode. Thought it may have been due to running low on fuel since they lit up shortly after refueling. Took it into my local Jeep dealership for a diagnostics test and they’re saying I need a new EGR valve and intake manifold.
After reading some threads and google searches I can understand the EGR valve issue, but with only 28K miles on it seems like that’s way lower than normal to have the intake manifold replaced.
Any suggestions on if I should challenge the dealership on that?
Interestingly the service guy said the egr was covered by my extended warranty, but didn’t say anything about the intake manifold being covered by warranty.
I suspect they’re going try to make me pay for that even though the five-year 60,000 mile warranty should still apply from what I’ve read. I did run a Thorton diesel tuning chip for a while and the dealership may know that from my last oil change in October, but took it out a while back.
Appreciate any tips or advice.
