I saw a u tube video of the new 2025 Gladiator with a new Hurricane engine and a much higher tow rating. Is it going to be enough to cause many to trade to the new one? I don't tow but if I did it would be a problem with all my mods. It will surely be faster and more fun to drive.

Got a link to said video?

Been a lot of either AI generated circle jerking speculative videos or people referencing what appears to be a AEV Wrangler test mule supposedly with the Hurricane.

Curious if/how that will work with a manual. If not, no thanks.

It won't work with a manual. At all. None of the new power options 4ex, hurricane will ever be manual. Hell I would be shocked if the turbo 4banger will ever be manual.

JTGuy got a link? Because the Hurricane has NOT been announced for the Gladiator. The 4xe has been.

The Hurricane probably won't get to the JT till a refresh of the entire rig, as we have talked about in more than one thread.

More power would be fantastic but higher tow rating or payload over the max tow ratings, would be surprising in the "small truck" platform.

Well, one day, just for sh*ts and giggles, I priced out a Chevy Colorado with that 2.7 L TurboMax engine and it said the silly thing has like a 7.7K lb towing capacity and was like $5-6K less than our Gladiators.

So, if Chebby can do it with a 4 cyl., then why can't Jeep do it with a 3.0L I-6 across the board and maybe even higher with the MaxTow?

If it had the right stuff I might. But that would be more than a I-6 3 L with TT . My 3.6 is just OK with the 4.88s. The 8 speed makes the difference.

Exactly - no way in hell I’d ever spend that much. I don’t think many would to be honest.
They spent that plus some on the 392 Wranglers. Fools and their money are soon parted.

Hybrid can't be manual
4xe can never be manual.
I don't know why the thought of a manual even comes up.
The main electric drive motor of the 4xe is in the front of the transmission along with a clutch.
There's no torque converter.
The clutch application and so on is all electronically controlled.

I don't have a problem with EVs but not for me and for an off highway adventure vehicle I think it's a bad idea. With towing the added torque at the bottom might be nice. Remember, the 4Xe Wrangler has 8 electric cooling and warming pumps on it in various places. I'm out on that.

Are you talking pumps? Or valves?
There are 4 pumps, 5 on the Wrangler.

68617740AA (battery chiller and heater) replaced 68400753AC, 68400753AD
68400748AC (High Temp) replaced 68400748AA, 68400748AB
68400751AD (Aux Coolant) replaced 68400751AA, 68400751AB, 68400751AC
68477590AC (low temp passive pump 2)

68444148AD also listed as another Auxiliary pump on the Wrangler 4xe.

The 4xe is not an EV.
It's a PHEV.
It's also great on the trails and in the wilderness.
Those systems actually have been holding up quite well after the got the bugs out the first year or so.
The torque is there through the whole range, too. It's akin to a V8 but it's more constant.
Talk to those who take them out on the trails regularly.
TrailRecon has some good vids on the 4xe.
