Tazer

Tazer JL mini has been installed since end of August when I regeared to 5.13. Tires are 37”. Tazer was updated to the 11.4.6 version immediately on delivery, prior to initial install.

Since installation, I’ve had intermittent issues with the tazer locking out the vehicle’s start mechanism. However, restarting the vehicle has always allowed me to clear the bind-up.

On Friday the 3rd I drove the jeep for about 7 miles to town, shut it off to go into the store, came back out and the push button would only cycle to ACC and RUN, but no ignition.

The codes on the scanner at that point: P16B7-15, C17BC-11, B17C1-11, & B1514-87.

We towed the jeep home.

I have since swapped out the auxiliary battery for a brand new, cleared the trouble codes with the tazer, unmarried the tazer and recovered it, reinstalled the firmware, 6 times. Different variations of codes continue to show up: C1514-87, B16B7-15. They wouldn't stay cleared. As soon as I open the door the tazer blinks red 4 times, when it was blinking green 3 times. I also have had the main battery on a charger to ensure it has good steady voltage during tests. The tazer will not retain the gear ratio and tire size updates, but seems to toggle through its menu's normally.

I have now replaced the green CAN-bus starlink connector to hopefully eliminate that as a root cause. Still it won't crank.

Next I removed the tazer and used a JSCAN to view codes. There were lots, and I just cleared all of them. I had an active code that states I have a short to ground for the 3rd brake light. That's probably a result of the strobing from the Tazer, replaced the 3rd brake light, the code stays clear, still the jeep won't crank. However, now a new code shows up on the JSCAN quick scan, not the advanced scan though, for a parking/neutral switch code that is permanent. I'm not seeing much online about the gladiator park/neutral switch. Is it still on the transmission passenger side top?

My jeep "potentially" still is under warranty, depending on the fight over mods, but I initially thought this would be simpler than it has panned out. It will be a huge P.I.T.A to get it there with work schedules, and the shop schedule, so I have pressed on. I just haven't seen anyone else post something quite the same and wanted to reach out to the community before I take it in.

Thanks in advance,

I would(and did) get rid of the aux batt and get a new main batt. Eliminate one thing anyway.

Check the CAN module behind the glove box. Sounds like it failed.

Just installed my Tazer today. Not sure if I did everything correctly. Hopefully so, but I needed to get the tire size updated. Can't figure out how to kill the 3 honks which between that and the TPMS and tire size is all I needed it for.

Well I figured out all the settings. However, I went to change a couple and all of a sudden the Jeep now idles at 2,000 RPM. What did I screw up?

Life saver. Thank you!! Thought I ruined my Jeep or at the very least had to start over.
Winning. Glad I could assist with a over the forum diagnosis

Did you print off the paperwork instructions on how to do all the changes with using the tazer?
