Good point. I was lured by the picture.
The Jeep Renegade Fiat is discontinued in the U.S.
but still sold in the rest of the world.
That might make a good platform for an inexpensive Jeep EV
and then reintroduce it to the U.S.

They will probably take a page out the Ford playbook that offered $19K Maverick's and $39K Lightning's and make about five of them and everything else will be allocated for the higher cost trims that make them money.

Don't hold your breath.....and if they are able to get even remotely close expect it to have mostly Chinese parts/batteries.

I also don't see how this fits with their stated goal of moving the Jeep brand upmarket. Hopefully this means they're stepping away from that Marketing strategy.

Batteries will be made in Kokomo, Indiana at a combination Stellantis/Samsung (South Korea) plant.

There are currently 2 battery plants being built on the NE side of Kokomo.

Perhaps Stellantis is thinking in terms of a "starter car".
A car that a student would have, for example,
and then build brand loyalty for when he trades up.

The humble Citroen 2CV was considered a student car.
But Citroen had nicer cars and the aspirational luxury DS.

Interesting. Do you have a source for this? Perhaps it was in the original link which I admit I didn't read since I read this headline and story about this yesterday and I don't recall seeing info. in that story about mfg. details.

Still not personally interested and I find it highly unlikely they'll get to that price point. If Tesla is struggling to get there I don't believe Stellantis will be able to, even leveraging common parts across product lines.

I think the better option is Hybrid, a system thats been proven to viable; aka like a Prius.

They don't need to be plugged in or additional electrical requires added to the home.

Sure do, I worked up there for awhile. Do a search for Kokomo Indiana Stellantis Battery Plant.

This are exactly what Honda and Toyota has been doing it for years, from motorcycle to automobile.

Interesting - looking forward to learning more about this. Id love a cheap EV commuter for m-f to keep mileage off the JT. Id prolly be able to make the car payment with gas savings.
