Interesting - looking forward to learning more about this. Id love a cheap EV commuter for m-f to keep mileage off the JT. Id prolly be able to make the car payment with gas savings.
Exactly why I bought a brand new 250-275mile Chevy bolt EUV three weeks ago. I use it during the week for mundane stuff and now use the jeep for camping, off roading, and fun. I paid 18k including taxes and fees for a brand new vehicle. Leather, heated/vented seats, basically loaded except for sunroof and super cruise. Pretty easy choice to keep miles off the Jeep and use zero gas.

Thats awesome! I am glad its working out for you. I commute in an EV frequently (I have access to them as a job perk) and although I love my JT, I want it to last, and I want to put off replacing the motor / trans as long as possible. Its really nice being able to hop into something smaller and more efficient and quite frankly a bit more comfortable for quick day to day things.

I think having an affordable EV for daily driving, and the lifted / tricked out rig for weekends, holidays, and adventures is really the sweet spot for a lot of people. I really would like to have my own, and as the market continues to push competition in affordable EV`s, its becoming more enticing to purchase one.

That is as exactly our thought process. Preserve the Jeep forever by driving it for fun and for truck stuff. It’s working out perfectly. I did drive the Jeep yesterday. Had to. Sunny and perfect temp for top down, windows down.

If Tesla can’t do it I doubt Jeep can unless it will have 100 mile range.

They can. Tesla shouldn’t be the example. If Chevy can sell small suv EVs, Jeep can too.

Chevy though kind of lost their shorts on that Bolt EV with the early battery issues and recalls. The fact they had to recently stop production and could not transition into the next generation Bolt says a lot about legacy ICE makers switching gears to EV production.

They stopped the bolt with the 23 model year because the equinox and traverse EV models use a different battery pack. They didn’t want to manufacture two battery setups, so they stopped the bolt. I have a gen2 bolt. It’s battery is different than the gen1, and the regen is SO much better.

$25,000 after recent inflation ain’t happening, and a $7500 tax credit to get to $25,000, isn’t a $25,000 Jeep EV.

When we were shopping for a new car
years ago we test drove a Prius.
When I backed out of the parking place
I stopped and told the salesman the test drive was over.
It felt like it weighed a ton more than it should.
My wife insisted on continuing the test drive
but my opinion did not change.
Later that same day
I did enjoy tossing around a Toyota Yaris

Of all the cars, trucks and vans
that I have owned in 60 years of driving
my all time favorite was a 1974 Honda Civic
followed by a 1986 Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo.

But that's just me.

The sticker on my 23 bolt EUV was under 32. That’s before tax credits. That’s not too far above 25k. If this 25k EV comes to fruition, it’s not going to be a wrangler. I might not even be awd. As others have predicted, it’ll likely be an EV version of something similar to a 2wd renegade.

I bet it will look similar to a Renegade . Thats probably why they have painted the 2024 grilles to look similar to a Renagade. That way it may gain some acceptance to the Renegade look from the front. Just a thought
