Should I or Should I not?
I test drove a 2021 Gladiator the other day, loved it. I researched the motor when I got home and all I'm seeing is thier doing away with this engine. So if I go buy a 2023, apparently last year for this motor. Where and when or even Will the parts be available at all after I buy one. Even say 5 or 20 years down the road?
I read they are taken it out of Gladiator. Are they also taking it out of all Jeeps or just Gladiator?
Thanks for all information.

I like the diesel and I think that it fits perfectly to the Gladiator.

But there are issues with this engine and it requires more attention than the Pentastar.
And I can imagine that there will be problems getting parts in the future.

So if you are not absolutly overwhelmed by the performance of the diesel it might be the more rational decision to buy the Pentastar.

Not sure what I would do if I could select again.

its still in plenty of other models. even if they did delete it from all models across all brands you will still have access to parts many years down the road. My buddy and I 7.3 powerstroke swapped his 94' bronco. we did everything with off the shelf parts except for some minor welding. pretty much bolt in procedure. everything about that project was easily 15 years old at the time. they still had parts for it.

3.6 is a slug. Love my Ecodiesel!
gotta find a 5% or greater decline grade and WOT throttle to get any semblance of speed of the 3.6 ?

I don’t have the sales numbers, but I have a 2006 Liberty CRD sitting in the driveway- original owner… I can still get parts for it….. same VM Motori company used then… if that’s a little peace of mind.

Basic architecture is the same as the modern 3.0, and it's ugly.

I have zero complaints on the gasser 3.6.
I really don't understand the calls for more power in such a vehicle as the Gladiator.
The 3.6 is more than sufficient for highway driving and off-roading.
If you're going to be doing a lot of towing this probably isn't right vehicle for you anyway, and you'd better served with a full size pickup.

The ecodiesel is awesome! Call your oart store ask for parts for a 14 grand cherokee diesel.....they have them parts will be available for a long time yet. We have 4, 21 and newer 0 problems use clean fuel, use injector cleaner and change fuel filters and air filters often . There is no comparison to the 3.6 on riad or off the the ecodiesel is a beast.

Thank you all for your comments. I really liked the feel of the Gladiator with the 3.0 ecodiesel that I drove. The tourqe as far as getting in with traffic was exceptional and very surprising.
As far as alot of heavy hauling, I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 with a Hemi for that. The Jeep Gladiator will mostly be for leisure vacations, fishing boats, atvs and hauling wife's shopping...lol. Nothing excessive.
I seen one on market place, had a Cummins in a 2021 Gladiator. But I do see a Gladiator in my future, just looking and more research for now. But thanks guys.

I agree 100%!

My last vehicle was a C6 Corvette Grand Sport and I have zero complaints about the power of the 3.6 in my Gladiator. It's an off-road focused mid-size pickup, not a sports car. It's plenty fast enough - and not even just "for what it is"... it's plenty fast enough period! I certaly have no problem whatsoever passing slower vehicles on 2-lane highways or getting up to speed on interstate on-ramps, etc. and it will happily cruise at 80 MPH all day long (though I usually try to keep the speeds down to get better fuel mileage -given that it has the aerodynamics of a barn (LOL).

Many of the EcoDiesel fans on here love to brag about the fuel mileage they get in every threar that discusses MPG, but they never seem to mention how much more the diesel engine cost them upfront, how much more expensive diesel fuel is than reg. unleaded gasoline, how much more expensive diesel maintenance is (and the fact that it's required more often), having to deal with cleaning/replacing DEF filters, particulate filters, 9-quart oil changes, larger more expensive battery, etc. etc. etc. I *LIKE* diesels and if you have to do heavy towing/hauling on a regular basis, there is nothing better (and in which case, I'd say you should be in a full-size truck not a Gladiator), but anyone thinking/claiming that the EcoDiesel will save them money over the 3.6 gasser is straight up kidding themselves. Add to that the fact that the Italian-made EcoDiesel has proven to be problematic/unreliable and it becomes clear why they have stopped offering it as an option.

Just my $0.02

It's fast, can be very problematic, higher cost to maintain and repair. If you're okay with all of that than go for it, otherwise stick with the 3.6.

After obtaining this information my recommendation is, get a 3,6. Really.

I love my ecodiesel, but I had/have the same worries as you. I only have 4k miles on mine (picked it up in Dec). Remember, this is the Gen 3 motor which I read has something like 80% of parts are new/improved over the Gen 2 engines.
I bought a scan Guage 2 to keep an eye on DPF soot level and regen status.
I have a friend that has an eco in his Ram p/u and has 140k trouble free miles, so that made me trust the eco a little more.
Owners with the 3.6 say they are fine power wise, but mine on 35 in tires was definitely working hard to tow my 2500 lb trailer, my ecodiesel pulls it a lot easier.
Good luck either way you go.

What the non-eco diesel people fail to realize is that you can get an eco-diesel far less than the standard Pentastar version. I bought my 2023 in October at 18.25% BELOW sticker (I couldn't get the standard V6 at that price), and you can still find eco-diesels 25% or more below sticker price. That makes it well worth it in my opinion.
