Correct. I have the appointment tomorrow at the dealership.
It's a warranty job and since the Gladiator came with Jeep Wave, there is a rental car requested.
I hope they can fix quickly since the rental car is for maximum 5 days.

Update:
My car is at the dealership since Nov 26. They confirmed the issue is what they were expecting, related to the camshaft.
It'll take a couple of weeks for getting all the parts.
Up to now they provided a rental car through Enterprise. It might be that they will switch from the rental car to a loaner, since I think there is a limit on rental car usage through the Jeep Wave program.

Cool, well hopefully it gets fixed and buttoned up soon. Fortunately not a lot of snow yet in BC.

I'm gonna wager its the right intake cam. And hah for bonus points I'll say only one lobe is destroyed.

Jeep Wave program language for rental car coverage is only meant for same single day service and not multiple days. If they give you a loaner, they are doing you a favor as that is not a guarantee from Stellantis that they have too.

I don't know if the program is the same in USA as in Canada, but this is from the Jeep Wave program website:

Daily Allowance For Up To Five Days

If your covered vehicle requires a warranty repair and is inoperable, rental car assistance is available through your dealer. What’s more, rental assistance is available for up to five days per occurrence and even same‑day warranty repairs are eligible for assistance. There is no maximum number of occurrences.

Yeah, that is different than the USA benefits. Looks like Canada actually gets a better benefit for once.

First day rental allowance provides $40.00 ($60 for Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer) car rental allowance if the vehicle is to be serviced for any same day mechanical repair or maintenance service. Vehicles kept overnight are not eligible for first day rental.

Please note: Excludes rental for bodywork to the exterior sheet metal/composite panel or frame collision repairs.

The rental vehicle must be obtained from a dealer. If a dealer does not have rental vehicles available, you may obtain one from a licensed rental agency. Rental coverage is subject to state and local laws and policies imposed by the rental agency. Rental charges in excess of the amount allowed by the plan are the member’s responsibility. The plan is not responsible for any refusal of a rental agency to rent a vehicle to you.

I called again yesterday to confirm and they said that the rental car was authorized by Chrysler. Also they got parts in early and possibly the car will be ready by the middle of next week.

I got my car back last Tuesday and up to now all is behaving as expected.
The work order notes were rather impressive. I've attached for those interested.

That tech must have heard what I told an auditor at the dealership I work at years ago. "Chrysler pays fifty cents a word for the writeup. "

Hi fellow BCer!

Should be under warranty since its a 2023. Not sure if I misunderstood your sentence there but I assume you are taking it to the dealer right?

This sounds exactly like a typical ticking right-side intake cam to me. If you are bringing it to a shop ask them to put a stethoscope on the right side valve cover and it should be apparent without taking it apart.

I have what I assume is the same problem, will be doing the work myself this weekend since the dealer wasn't willing to warranty my truck and I don't have the time to argue with them and be without my truck for weeks.
This was from November last year, but I'm interested to know why your warranty work was denied. I just took mine in today and I've done the last 3 oil changes. The intake guy said warranty work could be denied even with receipts. I already sent the receipts and info of when and mileage when oil changes and air filter were done.

The only way it could be denied legally is if it could be proven you used something wrong, or faked the oil changes. That would be a really tough thing for them to prove.
Gotta understand - those "intake guys" as you called him - aren't really all that knowledgeable - but like to talk the talk. People will too often believe them.

Thanks Shadows. I figured as much. Just want to be prepared if they do try to deny the warranty work. I made sure I stayed with the correct weight of oil for the same reason.

I found it useful to mention to the dealer that I'll "helpfully" submit it to JeepCares to "aid the dealer" in getting the work approved by Jeep. Apparently JeepCares will call them a bunch to get it resolved and annoys the dealers. My dealer was dragging their feet a little bit since I had a snorkel, but once I brought up JeepCares they seemed more "can do".

That happened with my 2020 when I went to a dealer about the horrible tonneau cover sag. It was bad, I had comparable photos from other forum members showing how well theirs fit. Mine sagged badly - and I could show and measure the sag. Dealer said it was normal. I submitted the issue to JeepCares, with photos, next thing I know, they give me a name and an 800 number and said give that to the dealer.
I went back - they still balked until another shop employee walking through heard my comments and said "yeah, they have a whole internet team that works with this stuff". Next thing I know - I have a new cover.

Thanks. I got a call today with mention about locating the problem and needing to get some more parts in stock. I won't push/poke the issue with the warranty unless it comes up again, but I'll definitely mention Jeep Cares if there's an issue.
