Anyone in Colorado is welcome to drive mine with 4.88. I may go to 37s. So 4.88 frees that up.
But really, you have to drive one. I have 100 plus pounds on each corner with my tire rim combo and my JT moves into traffic, I see 8th gear on the regular. I wheel above 10K feet with no issues.

You can live with 33s a narrow one, with 3.73. I did it for a year.

I'm still running on my stock 31's with 3.73 gears, and unless I can figure out a way to get the money for a regear at some point, I'm planning on going to 33's instead of 35's. I take enough trips where I am kinda fond of 7th and 8th gear.

8 Speed Automatic here and 4.88s are going in this Monday.

For me the single determining factor for 4.88 over 5.13...

What are they going to charge you ?

Wife’s JL has 4:10s and wished it had just a smidge more w/ 35s. Granted I am a bit biased with my 4:88s on 37s.
Agree with you. My previous JT was a Rubi with 4.10s and IMO it still struggled with 35” Toyo RTs. Rarely saw 8th gear on the interstate.
