Anyone run either of these and have an opinion about which is better? I had the 37x12.5r17 Kanati Mud Hogs which were solid but are now worn and want to try a different set. Thanks!

I’ve never run the Trail Hog a/t but I did try the Overland RTX in 37x12.5 early last year. Had three different shops try to balance them and they could not. Kanati stood behind them and refunded what I paid but it took a few months.

Thank you, crossing those off the list âś…

Looking for real world experience. I always research before spending and what I've learned is a higher price tag doesn't always equate to performance.

Nexen is supposed to make a pretty good tire at a decent price too. I’ll be watching this thread as I’m going to need some 33” for the wife’s 4runner too and she seems to want to go MT.

Did you run the Mud Hogs or Trail Hogs?
Mud hogs. They are very good off road, pretty noisy on road though. I didn't rotate the tires for 30k miles out of laziness and two tires are completely done, lesson learned.

What did you end up getting for miles on those tires?

I haven't been good lately at tire rotations either. I have a set of Goodyear Ultraterrains that were only rotated once and I have 85k miles on them.

Wow 85k is impressive. Mine have a little over 30k and two are completely shot, zero tread. But I should mention quite a bit of offroading in rocks and I do almost zero freeway driving, all city/suburban driving over past 5 years with these.

I have that exact size. I would not buy them again. Like said before they are incredibly hard to balance and mine are not perfect. There is a slight vibration at certain speeds. Nothing crazy or dangerous but noticable. The price point is too good to be true it seems.

I go back and forth on replacing them but they aren't bad enough to buy another set but not super excited about them either.

Decided on the Trail Hogs, couldn't pass up trying them for $220/tire. The tire shop said no issues balancing all 5. So far so good but will see how they wear. They do fit in the spare tire location as well. Will post an update after a few months.
