hey Everyone,

We are looking to purchase a 26 foot TT. Dry weight of 4800lb so i figure 6000lb loaded up. I have the max tow package and a WDH as well as the curt echo wireless trailer break controller. I should be good to go with this setup right?

Biggest thing would be the payload. how much will you be loading up in the truck, people and otherwise. Tounge weight on these things can vary a lot.

Can't speak for the echo, but I would strongly recomend the wireless button they now sell.

Just remember that you need to include any items/persons added beyond the driver in your weight estimates. This includes any fresh water and propane on the trailer.

With these trucks you'll need to be mindful of payload in the truck in particular (tongue weight included) since their capacity is not very large. You're at least as well off as you can be with the max tow.

I’d say you are pushing it as far as weight goes.

I have the Curt Echo controller and although “it works” it’s just ok. I often wish I had the Mopar or Red Arc wired controller.

I upgraded from my 2018 JLU to my Gladiator Rubicon to tow a similar weight travel trailer. Installed the mopar brake controller and have a WDH. Haven't towed it yet but I talked to a couple people with the same TT (Jayco SLX8 264BH, wondering if you got the same based on weights) and a gladiator (even lifted) and they said it towed fine.

My setup

20202 JTMT

4300lbs dry TT

430lbs tongue weight

Curt echo

Doi need as way bar with a weight distribution hitch?
Yes

No idea honestly if mine is “right” but with it i sit level, without im low in the rear. I feel like the sway bar helps with big trucks passing and such. My Echo is fantastic.

If you can, get a WDH with integrated sway control. I'm considering an Anderson after seeing it on trailer forums, but we have a Husky that works REALLY well:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W919F4K/

The Anderson system weighs 50 lbs less, however, and has been mentioned, you payload is going to be your limiting factor. With your trailer at 6000 lbs, the ideal 12% tongue weight of 720 lbs will gobble up a whole lot of your total payload. Kids, animals, cargo in the truck - look at your sticker on your door sill to see what that looks like. The WDH hitch counts as payload, 50 lbs is looking like it will matter to us.

This is the Curt brake button, which works perfectly and is very helpful:
https://www.carid.com/curt/echo-brake-controller-manual-override-button-mpn-51189.html

I towed double axle cargo trailers to San Diego and other places, smaller than a travel trailer so a lot less "sail" factor, and keeping the app to hand on a phone was a drag. The button also made setting the gain and sensitivity a snap.

Doi need as way bar with a weight distribution hitch?

With the weight seriously order the button for the Echo as well. I have had a few steep hills where I have had to manually engage just the trailer brakes. Fumbling for a phone would have been scary. That trailer will have the size to push you

I actually added that to my short list of buys yesterday. Definitely seems cool, just not sure where Im going to put it so it doesn't look obnoxious
