Let's see if @JeepCares actually cares...
My Jeep has been sitting in the garage in pieces for 6 weeks now. Right side intake camshaft ate itself. I'm assuming the bearings in the roller rockers failed and then the friction between the cam and the rollers ate up the lobes of the camshaft. This is a common issue, I get it. I bought a Jeep and I use the thing, there's a chance this is going to happen.
Here's the issue. The camshaft has been on backorder for who knows how long and I'm being told that I can't even order one on backorder because there are already ~3,000 of them on backorder in front of me. That would lead me to believe this is a HUGE issue, not just a 'common problem'.
At what point does this become an issue that Stelantis actually cares about. How many vehicles are sitting idle, waiting on an internal engine part that's failing due to what is apparently a design issue. The 3.6 pentastar is in MULTIPLE of their product offerings.
I'm not getting rid of my truck. (I'm financially committed at this point.. HAHA!) But, the fact that I am considering a $35k engine upgrade that the only reason I need is because the Pentastar is an obviously flawed engine that Stelantis is woefully unprepared to support is an asinine reality that I'm faced with.
I'm sure this will eventually turn into a class action lawsuit and the only people that will benefit from Stelantis having to fork out some cash is the shit head lawyers and the rest of us will still be sitting here with woefully terrible motor that we will have to constantly fight to keep on the road. It won't help the issue at all.
All of that to say, @JeepCares what's ACTUALLY going on here? When are you going to start fulfilling orders on this part? Have there been updates to parts/engine design in an attempt to alleviate this issue moving forward? Can you give an honest answer on how long my Jeep will be sitting in the garage not moving because of this?
