It will not fit with the gate up. This is a 65 inch that just fit diagonally. Length wise straight it just overhung the tailgate. It will most likely fit but the gate will need to be down.

Diagonal. Standing up (you aren't supposed to lay them down) Gate open.

Who cares if its hanging out a bit.

Considering the proper way to transport them is standing upright, keeping the trifold cover on is already a no-go regardless of size.

The rest is best figured out when you load it. No question you'll be able to move it, but chances are you'll have the tailgate down and then just strap it in accordingly.

I brought mine home with no issues tailgate down
Of course you did. Because you have common sense. There is no need for the gate to be up.

Shoot, you could have carried an 86" TV perfectly safely with 3 ft of box hanging out the back. If its tied down and you drive reasonably it will be fine.

Someone mentioned a bed extender. Why? Its not like its going to slide out the back. You've strapped it down right?

And if the TV is longer than the bed extender then you have to remove and stow the extender to fit the TV.

People still have common sense? That's good to hear.

I was just saying a bed extender would give you the room you need to fit it in the rear standing up. Unless your buying a 100 inch TV, with the Tailgate down and a bed extender it will fit. I hauled a 82 inch in the back of mine to the repair shop with the tail gate down and it laying flat and it was about 2 to 4 inches onto the tailgate.

don't put it in flat with the bed in half position, too much flex and stress in the middle of the box especially on bumps, unless you put plywood under it.

you can use the tie downs on the floor by the cab + ratchet straps. go under and then up and over back to the cab a few times.
