Seen that on my news feed. Wonder if there is a megalodon shark in the water?

We were on the pier in Oceanside, across the street from the Top Gun house, yesterday… the waves were crazy large!

Not a rogue wave but king tide. People are always too close during that time in oregon.

Tired of seeing rogue…shocker posts and videos regarding this. It was in the forecast….i saw it coming from Florida. If it weren’t for banks holding the note, I’d say don’t cover the damage sustained by willfully placing the vehicles in harms way. Obviously, if you live or work inland this wouldn’t apply. If you live on beachfront property, presumably you’d be paying an appropriate rate.

If you squint your eyes and look real close, you will see a Gladiator driving away from the scene.

That is why I posted the video.

You know, because this is a Gladiator forum. FFS

No worries, according to Toyota’s marketing department that Tundra will drive away just fine when the tides goes out.

Despite how easy it is to blame this on people who 'should have known better', this is not as obvious as it seems to avoid. I live in this city and have been at that spot many times, though I was not there on that day. Malibu beachfront homes are just a little ways down the coast and they certainly fit in high risk area. Those homes hang out over and sometimes into the ocean. In a big storm they get battered, but most are fairly well reinforced. That is not the situation here and all those speaking like this was obvious to avoid and the people should have known better are as ignorant of the situation as they blame the victims to be.

This street ends in a small cul-de-sac at the beach. In the worst of storms water has reached this wall just enough to touch it and have a small amount flow around the sides. As can be seen in the screen shot below, the water is about 150 yards (perhaps a bit more) from the street. What you cannot see is the slope of the beach which is not at all flat as it would appear. The video shows water hitting the break wall and continuing to rush up and over it. In other videos I've seen of this event the the water can be seen rushing up the street quite a long ways flooding restaurants and cars along the way. The blue squiggly line I drew is approximately where it flowed to. A number of people were swept off their feet and drug down the street into cars, and other fixed objects.

My point is this is not a spot where water regularly gets near and people should have known better to stay away from during a storm. Yes they must have seen water coming close to the wall prior to that moment, but as mentioned that has happened before and with little consequence. My point is also that while this youtuber is reusing someone else's video to gain views and using titles to grab attention these are everyday for youtube and nothing new. The video content is real, and the people while taking a risk, were not in an obviously dangerous situation as presumed by so many.

Check out the dude on the bike, with the yellow jacket. Right at the end he just goes sliding by like it's the most normal thing. :CWL:
