What is the little box with the fire in it? Awesome trip!
Nomad grill. I take glamour shots for the makers and abuse it with meats. The table and quick disconnect arm are from Magma. Boating equipment mostly. Noticed they had the quick disconnect set-up for a truck hitch. Long process started with custom work mounting onside as I did. Grill is charcoal and very consistent cooker. Biggest plus for me with silicone pad have no worries of heat melting Magma filet table.

Awesome trip, I really appreciate your taking the time to share your adventure. With regard to compressor lines freezing, do you have an onboard tank by chance? When I drove a lot of air braked vehicles in Afghanistan, it was critical to drain the air tanks before putting them away to blow out moisture that accumulates through condensation in the tanks. When we got a call to go at midnight in the cold it was critical that those trucks were ready to go in 15 minutes. Now I doubt you are moving the same volumes of air through your system as required on such large vehicles with brakes but this may be a good starting point. If you have the ability to blow out your lines after use that might help clear the lines as well to keep them from freezing up.

When you are pumping air the compressor is filling the lines with hot moist air, especially in winter, as the air in the lines cools, moisture condenses in the lines and freezes.

Agreed. I do always empty tank before shutting down and see moisture expel during this process. I will be looking into bleeding system more thoroughly soon.

What's your sleeping setup and what's your rig weigh? Outstanding trip. How much time did you average in each NP?
Sleeping set-up: Marriott/Friends Homes

Camping trips for me are single destination 2-3 day situations. Ground gazelle…Partner stove…Camp stuff…etc. Enduro trip like these averaging 430+ miles daily I spend most of my time before departing planning route putting trails/and fire roads between or at destination. Checking in with ranger stations before arrival consistently. Also talk to and seek out locals with similar interest helps with efficiency.

Ball Park Weight
Weight Driver:
170lb
Weight Passenger Front Gear:
130lb
Weight Passenger Rear Even Across:
200lb
Bed:
500lb

Packed roughly 1000lbs (always pushing heaviest items low and flat as possible/Everything Strapped)
Vehicle curb weight with removed and added body bumper/mods/winch/Cap roughly 500-600lbs

I’m probably 7000-7400 range.

Time in parks varies greatly, keep in mind I do these endurance style. I hit hotels between 9pm-2am and bounce between 4-6 am. I know exactly where I‘m going in NP and head at times seasonally making speed easier. Leaving NP varies greatly based on distance to next stop and if I’m digging it. I will pull audible frequently and skip something based on a good find right in front of me.

Group trips I pack much less knowing others pack list. Winter trip shaved weight vs. spring. Coming Summer trip I expect to be roughly the same but. Maybe shave 200lbs unless studded chains get purchased.

My mods and gear seam to improve with every big circle based specifically on issues I encounter.

Bare in mind these weight are all rough. Next summer trip I will know weight at all for corners down to lb.

Awesome adventure and great info sharing. thanks for taking the time and effort to share your experience with the group. I will repeat the question from above- what is the grill/stove box you have? Also, where are you sleeping? it looks like the Alucab was full, you in the back seat?

PS- questions answered in thread while i Typed. Thanks for all the info.

Couple vids.
Lexus getting high centered on last crossing of Medano Pass. He was lucky it took me a minute to recover traction boards from creek bottom. I should have tied and staked them for easier recovery.

Studded chains game changer vid. FYI drop to left no fun.

Here vid really not showing how steep climb is or ice covered rocks under snow. Boards made for quick recovery.

In the works for late summer or early fall next year. Was thinking about hitting Alaska but cannot pass up deep diving trails on Vancouver Island and in British Columbia Mountains/Glaciers.

Preliminary route below. Currently mapping 10k miles. Needs cleaning to be done in just under 3 weeks allotted.
