I unfortunately got a basic Rubicon and have been upgrading everything.
My next thing would really like to be adding heated seats. I am able to get front OEM Rubicon heated seats where I am.
I know I can get the module and the dash piece and take it to the dealer to have them program it.
My question is, is there another way where I can just add my own switch on the shifter area that also allows me to do low, medium, and high controls? Do I need the module still? I need to check if I even have the correct wires to add the seats.
Is all Rubicon wire looms the same?

If you can’t find an easy way to make all that work (sounds too damn complicated)…you can add heated seats to your current seats.

I installed heated seat pads in My 2007 Tacoma back years ago…probably in 2008 or 2009. The worst part was removing the OEM seat skins. The install & wiring isn’t much different than any other powered/switched upgrade.

It is doable….just depends on the route you take to get there.

The wiring harness configuration for each truck is based on the options ordered. There is not a lot of universal or extra wiring included in the harnesses. The odds of the heated seat wiring being there are pretty low.

I would also recommend aftermarket seat heater kits to install in the existing seats.

leatherseats.com sells seat heating kits. I'd bet Katzskins does too. If you are removing seat covers anyway, may want to consider just buying new custom leather seat covers from one of those two companies. They aren't traditional 'covers', but full replacement seat skins.

I agree with the previous answer's,I added heated seats to my wife's FJ several years ago and mounted the switches in the console area. She loves them and have had no issues with them. Removing and replacing the seat covers are the toughest part but very doable.

It can be done, I put OEM heated seats and steering wheel in my wife’s JLUR and I put heated seats in my JLU, I followed this thread on the JL forum from user RAMSTEEL.

It is not a small task, but it can be done.
this is the wire harness and module that is missing.

Bro thank you so much! Did you make this harness with the wiring or buy it?
I will read through your thread as well.

I bought the module from Baseline4x4 on eBay and it came with the connectors and a short pigtail and I made the harness. There is an excel spreadsheet in the linked thread that has all the pinouts for it, and the other parts needed to make it work. You don’t necessarily need the HVAC control, you can control the heaters with the radio. I just did the seats in mine and use the radio to turn them on.

Yes, it seems you have to buy new foam with the heater installed now, idk how much they cost. Infotainment has a kit now with a separate wire harness that is actually pretty good. I would hook it up a bit differently than they do but considering the time it takes to build a harness it’s a good option.

Yep, found the Infotainment harness and am going that route. Haven’t found the part number for the cushion with heater installed… will keep looking.

I can’t find infotainments wiring harness for the heated seats. I found it a few months ago but that I am seriously considering doing this add on heated wheel and seats I cannot find it now. Does anyone have the link?
