@DubyaBee76 I see what you mean now. That section is pretty locked in place. No way to turn it or even add a filter without some serious mods, at least from what I can tell. If the factory airbox is used with this, would not that filter help with the dust, or do you think the design as is will push more dust to the factory air box and overwhelm the filter faster?

That's a lot of money for a non-adjustable snorkel that's just going to fill your airbox up with debris. If the scoop was adjustable, I'd be all over it. However, it isn't, and that 1/4 hp "gain" from the faux forced induction isn't worth a box full of sand/dust/butterflies/leaves/etc.
The aFe snorkel has a grill covering the opening. I've never had anything get stuck in it yet. Only thing you have to watch out for is too much water going down it, like if you were driving in a heavy rain storm, or while washing it. But there's a drain plug you can leave open if you know you're going to be in prolonged rain. Otherwise, I've had no debris getting in, and regular rain has not been a problem either.

It does connect to the factory airbox. You don't really collect any more dust than you would suck in from the front grill area, and sometimes it's a little better since the intake sits higher.

@MojaveMaximus How hard was the install? Did you do all the sealing they recommend? If you had to work on the battery, how difficult would that section be to remove and add back?

Well, I didn't actually install this. Long story short is, I got invited to pilot a prototype for the Mojave, and then they installed a final product for me when it was done. So I didn't really have to do anything. But from what I got from the guy I worked with, it's not too hard. You do have cut out one piece of insulation from under the hood (I attached a picture of the right side so you can see the piece that has to be removed). The rest goes in fairly easily, and ties in to the existing airbox.

It is NOT waterproofed for deep water fording at this point yet though. You still have to seal some things around the airbox to make it ready for deep water fording. I have not done that part.

Anyway, hope this helps!

It does look well thought out with the use of the cowl side piece and the use of the gap in the cowl for a pass through. Looks like it will take longer to get out a screw or nut driver to undo the clamps than to remove it to access the battery and stuff. It feeds air from what is usually a cleaner or dryer location than the stock intake maybe it will help a bit by allowing more air if the existing intake tube is a restriction point and the flow is inadequate. It is not going to increase MPG since the air and fuel are kept to ratio by the computer it would be a good addition to increase air cleaner life, fording level if everything could be sealed and it does look like it belongs it does seem a bit expensive although i am sure they spent a lot to develop it and set up the manufacturing process.

Yeah, it is a bit pricey to be fair. Also, if you see in the pics where the two adjustable hose clamps are, you can loosen these and pull that whole middle section out to access the battery. It is LITTLE bit of a pain in the butt, but it's not too hard to get it out and back in.

Yeah. When I originally saw this I was pretty excited. So much that I didn’t realize the external portion with the intake is one piece, which does not allow any flexibility with the port.

I like this snorkel but have some concerns.

It fits flush to the A pillar. It looks like there is a piece of foam between the snorkel and the A pillar for protection. I'm worried that over time it will wear down and scuff the paint if I decide to remove it in the future.

Also I'm looking at cab covers, it's not going to be possible to slide one between the A frame and the snorkel due to its flush mount. I'm guessing the only option to protect the jeep when the doors are off is to get a full size cover, baggy enough to fit over the snorkel. Other than that I like it.
